    Monochromatic Beige: across the decades

Early this month, I was privileged to spend a weekend with Jodie and her husband Rob in Arizona. Feeling the stress of helping care for elderly family members earlier this year, I knew I needed to take some time to recharge, have a little fun and the first place and person that came to mind was Jodie and Arizona. Jodie is as genuine in person as she is on her blog and IG, and it was a delight to get to know her and her husband better. I rested, I laughed, I met her mom Charlotte and Lesley, I saw many cactus (that I shared in some post a couple…

    Tulle overlay: Whimsical Style

A few weeks ago, when I visited Jodie for a weekend, we enjoy a day of thrifting and shopping. The boutique we stopped by was Just be You-Tiful and I had a ball spending most of my fun money there. Since it was after we had thrifted, I knew that I didn’t have a budget, I could spend the rest of my cash there. That is kind of a fun and freeing experience: I found some really fun pieces, one of which is this tulle overlay. This might look like a skirt, but it isn’t. It does not have a lining so you do have to wear a skirt (or…

    Spring Favorites: Style Edition

I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite outfits I wore this spring. I always feel very proud of myself when I shop my closet, combining thrifted finds with retail finds or when I realize that a purchase was a great one because I love it and wear it repeatedly. I absolutely love the color of this top! I found it on clearance at Belk and wasn’t sure about it at first because of the sleeves. Turns out they are overwhelming and they are kind of fun. Another retail purchase was these denim pants and wanting to bring in spring, I wore sandals for the first…

Stripes for Spring with the Ageless Style Link Up

I love stripes and have multiple striped tops in my closet, so when Joanne suggested stripes for our April Ageless Style post, it was a matter of choosing which top I wanted to highlight. This is probably my oldest striped top in my closet and if I look closely at it, it is starting to show signs of wear and it is pilling some. However the stripe is thinner and the back has a pretty scoop, so I have not been able to part with it yet. But after washing it once more, it was time: this is its swan song! I remember wearing it in France in 2019 and…

7 Days of Skirts: Spring 2024 Edition

I enjoy creating this post every fall and spring because it inspires me to shop my closet and wear my skirts in a new way! Some of these skirts are many years old while others are from the past year, some are thrifted, some are retail, but all have a special place in my closet. Modcloth skirt -circa 2018-19 This skirt is still one of my favorite and I always find a new way to style it. Today, it’s with a simple tee and a belt. I added a necklace from my aunt and my white sneakers: you will see that I tend to wear sneakers with skirts and dresses…

Shopping and Fun with Friends – Arizona Edition

What a wonderful weekend in Sun City, Arizona! My weekend with Jodie was just what the doctor ordered. The last 6 months have been interesting to say the least for our household with some adjustment to what is expected of me, and it was time for a break from routine and taking care of everyone, so I could recharge. And recharge I did. All this thanks to being made welcome by Jodie and Rob. Here is a short little look into our weekend and what we did. When I arrived in Phoenix, I was surprised how chilly it was even though I knew that the weather was going to be…

Cargo Maxi Skirt and Denim for the Sunday Showcase

I went into Kohls last month to look for a crochet top, but left with a maxi cargo skirt and a pair of sandals! I was actually influenced by a styled mannequin which is a new one for me. I love my olive pants and joggers (I also have an olive skort), and when I saw this maxi with the slits on the side and the cute sandals, I knew I had to try them on. Sadly, the skirt was not on sale, but I did receive a 10% off my purchase when I checked out. I usually do not buy anything not marked down to a certain point at…

Inspired by Marsha in the Middle: Stripes, Denim and Liquid Leather

I love my blog posts where I replicate an outfit inspired by one of my blogger friends! And today, I am sharing an outfit inspired by Marsha from Marsha in the Middle! In her post, she paired her gaucho pants (Clara Sunwoo, here) with a denim jacket, scarf and striped top! Since I had liquid leather pants too (Clara Sunwoo, here), and similar pieces in my closet, it was just the inspiration I need for a spring outfit! I always find it funny how my sons and I will take quick blog pictures! I have learned what poses work for me, and as long as I don’t make a strange…

    Black Dress with Western Twist

It’s spring break! It’s a fun and exciting week! My college friend and her family are visiting Atlanta (and us) for a few days and we will probably join them on a couple of outings to Six Flags and the aquarium. She has 3 sons close to my two oldest’s ages and the boys all get along well with mine. Then on Friday, I am heading on a solo trip to Arizona to visit Jodie and I am so excited for some fun time visiting with her. My look today is inspired by Melanie’s outfit above. I follow her on IG and she has the cutest Western outfits and when…

Thrifted Olive Tunic Dress for a Museum Outing

I did a search on my blog and it appears I never showcased this olive tunic dress I thrifted a year or so ago. If I remember correctly I spent maybe 3 dollars and bought it when I was thrifting with my mom. A couple weekends ago, I decided to finally take advantage of the Bank of America free 1st Saturday of the month admission to museums. Sadly, it only gives free admission to the cardholder(s), so my husbands and my tickets were free, but we did have to pay for the boys. The Tellus Museum is a local science museum with permanent and visiting exhibits. It also has a…
