Vignettes around my House that Bring me Joy
I thought it would be interesting to see what the definition of a vignette is as we often use it as a term to describe a spot where you decorate maybe a tray or a small area in a aesthetically pleasing manner. I often think of it also as a snapshot of a pleasing area. The word vignette comes for the French word vigne which means vine. It used to be an architectural term used to describe a carved representation of a vine. It also is used as a “brief evocative description, account or episode”, and “a small illustration or portrait photograph which fades into its background without a definite…

Winter Bucket List and December Recap 2025
It’s time for my winter bucket list and December recap and I am joining some friends! Feel free to join us in the link up! I shared my November favorites here and just wanted to add a few things to my fall recap. December has been busy, November sure had some highs (vacation), and lows (mom’s health), but God is good. We enjoyed our annual Thanksgiving beach trip and I did well on my no shopping till November 1st (about 40 day break). Limiting sugar? Not so good! December Recap Bethlehem Walk: I will be sharing that next Wednesday! We took a ride around our neighborhood to see the lights:…

November Favorites
Today, I am sharing some of my highlights from the month of November. One of my favorite things is my morning coffee on my porch, admiring the trees (we back to some woods), enjoying the crisp air (we had quite a few mornings in the 30s and 40s) and enjoying the peace and quiet. Fall Colors Bike rides, walks, hikes, I enjoy all of these because I got to see some beautiful foliage all within 15 minutes of my house. One of the things I like about where I live is that there are several trails, parks and lakes within a 20 minute radius of my house. I usually…

Backyard and City Creatures
I have been coming across some critters recently and was able to take pictures of most of them (sadly, not the fox trotting down the street). So today I am sharing those pictures with you as I always love seeing them and I thought you might enjoy them too. First, we have a throwback to a dragonfly while going down the river by our neighborhood. There were a couple that kept landing on my leg and shoe as we floated down. Then, this praying mantis welcomed me when I went out to grill dinner. My youngest was afraid of it, so I took a picture so he could see the…

Bloopers: It’s Time to Laugh
Good morning! I am enjoying a few days away with my husband for a belated anniversary getaway. Today, inspired by Nancy’s blog post (visit here), I am sharing some recent bloopers to bring a smile to your face. My boys really love to take pictures when I am not ready, especially when we are taking blog pictures and it’s not just after they got back from school. I have learned how to stand and pose, but they are still able to catch some funny shots every so often. So without further ado, here are some pictures for you to enjoy. Getting into position or starting to walk towards them to…

Fall Bucket List 2025
It’s time to share another quarterly bucket list! If you want to read a recap of my summer, you can read last Wednesday’s post here where I share some of our summer highlights and how I am progressing with certain goals. I do not have much of a bucket list for this fall: the end of summer brings with it school and all that it entails which is a pretty busy schedule especially during the week when I have to remember where I am supposed to be. Add to that my twice a week visit to my parents and I enjoy anytime I have a quiet weekend or a couple…

Summer Recap 2025
Here are a few posts that recap some of my summer adventures: June trip to New York and Long Island Trip to Arizona to visit Jodie Atlanta Botanical Gardens In other news, I have been starting my meals including breakfast with veggies and added a lot more fresh veggies to my diet. I also increased my protein intake and make chia pudding to eat for breakfast every day. I also enjoyed the occasional treat from the French Bakery (Bonnins) about once a month and cut zinnias from our little garden to bring color to the kitchen. We enjoyed butterflies, foxes and deer in the yard! And of course, birds of…

Friendship and Food
I was reflecting on friendships after my trip out to Arizona to visit Jodie and Rob. The way you make friendships changes as you grow older. As a child, you make friends at school, church and sports activities and that I think that continues till you graduate from college. Then you meet friends through work, social activities and church. For me, I still have a couple friends I am in touch with from high school (my best friend is a friend I made when I was 10-12), we have changed churches a few times in the past 15 years but I am in touch with only 2 friends a few…

Goal Setting: Summer 2025
There are 2 more months in summer and as we near the end of summer break (only 3 more weeks left), I am now ready for some goal setting! June was a stressful month with my mom’s health and creating new routines there and my oldest looking for living arrangements for the fall semester at GA tech. Now that those routines are established and he has an apartment to move into in August, I can look forward to these coming two months. As I mentioned in last week’s post, June was a month full of anxiety, but July was a nice turning points with new routines. Family Goals visit my…

Summer Flowers and Anxiety
If I had to sum my summer in one word so far, it is anxiety! While we had a nice little vacation and I have had fun with the boys and enjoyed the slow mornings, I really have been struggling with anxiety until about the last few days of June. I always have been a person who gets a little sick to my stomach when I am stressed or anxious (think job interview, a big bill…), but this summer, I feel like I have let it go to another level and I am struggling with letting go of being anxious. I think part of the reason anxiety is taking over…
