Ruby Falls, TN
Many friends were surprised that even though we have lived in the Atlanta for more than 20 years, this fall was the first time that we visited Ruby Falls Ruby Falls is located in Chattanooga, TN and is about 1 hour and half from our house. We have gone many times to Chattanooga for day trips and overnight trips, but we had never visited the falls. We have visited other caves and caverns in the past, and this was the most expensive one to date. We visited the Tuskaleechee Caverns, TN and I share them here, and I share caves we visited in the Republic of Georgia here. What makes…

7 Days of Christmas Looks
Between this post and a couple more styling pieces from my closet, I hope you will be inspired look at your closet in a new way and be inspired to put together some festive looks using what you already own. Think colors (white, burgundy, red, forest green), textures (velvet, faux leather, lace) and don’t forget to look at your accessories too! In one of these outfits, I used a pair of “summer” earrings to add texture! Christmas Date I have several church appropriate skirts that I can wear for Christmas and I have shared those outfits in the past (here and here) so today, I want to share 2 new…

Winter Outfits with Red Tulle Skirt
Today, I am sharing more outfits ideas with my red tulle skirt. My most recent post with red tulle fall outfits here links my other posts with it too. If you have a red skirt of any kind, you may want to visit that post for more inspiration. It is so fun to see how versatile a statement piece like this can be! With a Pink Sweater It is always fun to hear my family’s comments when they see an outfit that I put together that is a little out of the ordinary. When I came downstairs with this pink sweater and pink combat boots paired with my tulle skirt,…

Runner’s Spotlight: Joseph
Today’s runner’s Spotlight is a different format than my usual as I had my son share a 8th grade writing piece he wrote for class. I really enjoyed reading and learning about his thoughts about his 2 years running in Cross Country. So without further ado, here is Joseph’s story! “Ouch!” I cried in pain. “Ice it,” my mother instructed me. I grabbed an ice pack out of the freezer and put it on my heel. “It feels like a thousand bullet ants bit me,” I explained. The next few days, I ran and then had extreme pain in my heel. Stretching it didn’t help. I put on heel compression…

White Dress for Fall with Blazer
The problem with taking blog pictures to much in advance (think a month and a half) is that sometimes, I am not sure which date would be more appropriate for the post. I took these pictures before taking the pictures of my pink dress and white cowboy boots in the fields, but thought the more muted colors of this outfit fit the later date better. Then I didn’t want both similar outfits to be posted too close together so here is an early fall outfit for late fall! If you live somewhere unlike Georgia and Florida where we still get mild days in December, you may want to winterize this…

Western Outfit with Crochet Vest
I thrifted this vest early in October and I searched Pinterest for some ideas on how to style it. I thought that this would be the perfect outfit for the West Fest in town. What I didn’t take into account was that it was going to be pretty warm (85 degrees), and that most of the activities were outdoors. We watched a birds of prey show, the OK corral shootout reenactment and the Native American dance presentation. All of these were outdoors and while we tried to sit in the shade, I think I was a little dehydrated after running a 10K that morning. So while I am smiling in…

Rock Garden, Calhoun, GA, 2024
I wrote about this rock garden 5 years ago when we visited it for the first time. You can read more about the history of the garden in that post, here. Today, I am sharing the pictures we took this past October on our way back from Chattanooga on fall break. It is sometimes fun to revisit places when the children have grown: our youngest didn’t remember this place since he was less than two the first time we stopped at the garden. For how old some of these structures are, the gardens and its miniature buildings are in really good shape. I really would like to go on a…

Denim Dress as a Jacket
I took the pictures for this post a while back and had it planned on my calendar, but it turned out I forgot to write the post! So here it is finally! I shared this thrifted denim dress in this post last month. Because it is a tight fit and the zipper is a full zipper, I knew I could wear it also as a jacket. Because the pieces under the jacket are plain (grey tank, black skinny faux leather), I decided to step it up with my accessories. I wore a pendant from my grandmother combined with a necklace from a friend, embroidered earrings and fun shoes. It is…

Fall Denim Days
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to wear my lightweight sweater like tops and pair each with a pair of denim and different shoes. It’s an exercise in wearing what I have and finding new combinations that I like. I was very pleased with each outfit and it was fun to realize that a lot of my denim was thrifted. I usually do not even look at jeans when thrifting because I get overwhelmed with the quantities and having to look through sizes puts me off. But if my attention is drawn by a particular detail, I do get drawn in. I am always drawn to fun sleeves when…

Chocolate Brown with the Ageless Style Link Up
Amy from Amy’s Creative Pursuit chose chocolate brown as the theme for our November Ageless Style Link Up as it is a trending color this fall. I’ve been sorely lacking in browns the past few years, so with that in mind I stopped by my new favorite thrift stop (Park Ave Thrift) to see what I could find! The only 2 other chocolate brown pieces in my closet were a bodysuit which I am wearing under this little jacket and a faux leather mini skirt which I will be sharing again on the blog next month. While keeping my eyes peeled for something brown and looking for a black blazer,…
