Runner’s Spotlight: Lari
I am so excited that Lari agreed to share her running journey with us! I’ve run with her quite a few times on our Tuesday night running club runs and am always amazed at her dedication to running. She is fast, she is consistent and in her early sixties is someone that I admire and hope to emulate. She loves trail running! How and when did you start running: I started running at age 14 to lose weight. I would run to visit my horse which was about a mile away from our house. Prior to starting my running journey, I was a competitive swimmer on a City team in…

Scarves: 2025 Looks
There are many types of scarves: silk scarves, pashmina, blanket scarves, infinity, rectangle… Some are said to be out while others are preferred. Today, I am sharing 3 scarves and I tried to create modern looks with them. I am not sure if I succeeded but I did enjoy wearing each outfits. Warm winter scarves come in handy on cold winter days and add a touch of coziness, warmth and interest. Multicolored Thrifted Scarf When I saw this fun, colorful scarf when thrifting in the fall, I couldn’t pass it up from $2. It is not particularly thick or warm, but is perfect with my velvet bodysuit. Since the bodysuit…

Combat Boots and Olive Utility Jacket 2025 Look
Combat boots and utility jackets have made a come back every couple of years and I have enjoyed the trend throughout the years. I love adding that more masculine or edgy piece to an outfit, especially when it create a little dichotomy. When putting together today’s outfit, I tried to add elements to make it current by choosing a pair of denim that is trending: the cuffed straight jeans. I have had several olive utility jackets over the years, never settling on one that I loved. Most I wear for a couple of years before donating them, the problem usually being the size or one that was too trendy. I…

Butterfly Trail: New Beginnings and Warmer Days Ahead
I thought that it would be nice timing to share the pictures I took of the local iron butterfly Trail. The weather has been cold and the outdoors are not always enjoyed as much as on warmer days. Butterflies are symbols of transformation, rebirth and new beginnings. They are often symbols of hope and love. Many of us have spent some time in January planning some changes for our year or wanted to start something new, so these butterflies are fitting to close out this month. The trail allows different local businesses to sponsor different artist to paint the butterflies. The project began in 2021 and connects the community through…

Styling Velvet Joggers: Casual Fit
I hadn’t worn my velvet joggers since last year, so I decided it was time to share some casual outfit inspiration with them. I wore the first outfit and a variation of the cardigan one since I took the pictures. You could easily replicate these ideas with any joggers but also with any textured pants. These would be great ideas to try with faux leather. Now what is fun is that I have another 5 ways to wear them in this post from 2022! I also shared a fun festive outfit with them in a post last year here and with a pretty festive top at the end of this…

Thrifted Vest 2 Ways
When I thrifted this vest in December, it reminded me of a sweater/jacket that had a similar look that I wore it for many years. Just as this one, it was in a tan color which I found very versatile. With our weather here in Georgia, sometimes it is nice to have a layer that you can add to a light top/sweater to give you that extra warmth without overheating. I wanted to share two different looks: I have worn them both this past month. Vest with Skirt This outfit was inspired by one of Jodie’s looks: when she shared her outfit I thought of my skirt and bodysuit right…

Snow Day in the South
People up there probably make fun of us, but after not having any snow for 7 years, an inch or two makes us happy down here in Georgia! Now, we don’t think that this is a lot by any means, and we would have loved to have at least 6 to 8 inches, but we will take what we get! We are still hoping for a good snow this winter, but are weary as we have had snows/ice that have crippled us. We are not used to driving in this and when it ices up, then it’s scary! But the boys and I fully took advantage of this! We went…

Thrifted Neutrals: Shop Your Closet
Today, I am sharing an all thrifted outfit (minus the shoes) that I shopped from my closet with pieces thrifted from 2 years ago to last December. I have learned a few tricks that I try to remember when I am thrifting, so I do not buy too much and so that I actually know I will wear those items. Tip #1: make sure that you like the fit! This cropped sweater is a little too cropped with low-waisted pants, but works perfectly with these high-waisted jeans. My son thought I needed a bigger sweater, but I told him I would not be raising my arms up high during the…

Aqua Sweater 3 Ways for The Ageless Style Link Up
Today’s Ageless Style Link Up brings you Winter Blues! I bought this aqua sweater last year in the juniors section at TjMaxx, the color having drawn my eyes instantly. I wore it last year for the blog with white jeans here, and I thought I would share 3 more ways to wear it this year. Remember that these ideas could work just as well with any bright sweater! I found my inspiration on Pinterest, so I am sharing my inspo pictures too! Black Denim My outfit is loosely based on this picture: I shopped my closet for black jeans and my leopard shoes. I had a blush pink clutch that…

Insights from 2024
As I was writing a little fashion insight post for Instagram, I decided I could share my thoughts here on the blog as well as some insights about traveling and family that I would like to continue or do better in 2025. A lot of these are similar to some of the goals I shared last week in this post. Fashion/Shopping Insights I do not like visual clutter in my closet (and anywhere else really) and still like to reassess periodically whether I wear things in my closet. With many choices at the tip of my fingers, I do not keep pieces I “have to make myself” wear. I have…
