Marietta Farmers Market outing

Last Saturday, our family took a quick drive to the Marietta Farmers Market. After our fun experience in France visiting a village outdoor market, I wanted to capture a little of that feeling (nothing can compare to a French outdoor market in my opinion but you can get close!). Our little town’s market is tiny and I heard good things about the Marietta’s market so away we went.

Since summer in Georgia is always hot and humid I wore my breezy floral skirt with a tank top. It was perfect for the outing and even matched my bouquet! The skirt is on clearance for $14 at the time I am writing this post!

The market was divided in two parts, one selling foods and plants while the other part sold crafts.

I really like this display of eggplants even though we do not eat eggplants much! Aren’t they cute! We did buy some Dracula sausage from the sausage stand, some peaches and some tomatoes from another.

My favorite stand sold gorgeous bouquets with sunflowers and other flowers. They usually premake the bouquets but didn’t that morning so the line was long but worth it for a beautiful $10 bouquet. The young woman making them was quick and it helped that they make the same bouquets so she had a good rhymn.

There was a really neat stand in the crafts section where children could make Christmas card for men and women in the armed services.

I thought it was a really neat concept and a good way to reach children who usually may not participate in such a program. I think it would be really neat for classrooms to make cards too and might suggest it to my children’s teachers.

There were a couple crafts stands that caught my attention such as this display of earrings made with pumpkin seeds! I probably would have wanted to purchase a pair but I have a tendency to spend more money that planned at Farmer’s market which I already had (double what I had budgeted).

And isn’t this terrarium really cute?

So while this market was not a French market with cheeses, fresh sausages, straw baskets and that French je ne sais quoi, it was a pretty fun way to support local businesses, enjoy the outdoors and spend time as a family! And I got to see an abundance of sunflowers which are my favorite flower! I will try to go back before summer is over because I really want another one of those bouquets and because we forgot to stop by the French bakery which is down the street. If you ever are in Marietta, be sure to check out Douceur de France, their food, pastries and breads are delicious!

A bientôt!

Welcome! You should go back to my post of the farmers market in France (I think it is the one titled Montpellier, university town since we visited a village market then), that was an amazing market. And yes, Farmer’s markets can be really neat!

Thank you! I would like to find a few more around here but most are pretty small for the drive.

Such an amazing market! I went to a small market when in Illinois babysitting my granddaughter and got the most amazing scone. I love those sunflowers! I can’t believe Georgia has sunflowers already. We don’t see those until fall here in Wisconsin.

Thanks Mireille for coming by to visit and leaving your sweet comments.
It was nice to hear from you.
Love all those flowers and remember how wonderful all those markets are in France and
Germany, such a pleasure to enjoy. Love those pumpkin seed earrings, they are darling……
Your Ga. flower market looks pretty good to me too….Sunflowers are just so gorgeous and
remind me of Fall for some reason, but they really are a summer flower too, I guess.
I know someone whos hubby thinks her favorite flower is Sunflowers, and altho she likes them they aren’t her favorite but everytime he gets her flowers it is always Sunflowers and she doesn’t have the heart to tell him, cause he is always so sweet and thrilled to bring them to her. lol Funny!
    Have a lovely day hon,
    Blessings, Nellie
