Summer in Review

Well, this summer was a summer to remember! We visited several countries, several places in the US and spent some quality time with friends and family. I am actually having a hard time adjusting back to the routine of daily life as I miss my special friends and also miss the places we visited. We made some wonderful memories to cherish and I hope my children remember these summers when they grow up!

France and Spain

It had been 6 years since we had visited France so we decided this was a good year for that trip since my youngest wasn’t 2 yet and we would save a lot on his ticket (just have to pay taxes for an international flight if baby sits on your lap). Going to France is a more costly trip then going to the Republic of Georgia so I had to plan for that budget wise. I am hoping that we will be able to go back in 2023 (I am in the process of planning what we will do over the next 7 years or so, with some years staying close to home and doing more budget friendly vacations. Budgeting, planning and saving will be my friends over the next 10 years!

We spent a few days in Spain using our hotel points then headed to France to visit our friends!

I usually am ready to go back home but I wish we could have stayed longer. I miss Europe!

Blue Ridge weekend

We spent 4 days with family in the Blue Ridge mountains and enjoyed relaxing by the river. A little hiking, a little floating down the river, some eating and great family time!

Overnight at a friend’s and Tallulah Gorge

We visited a friend who lives a couple hours away from us and went hiking at Tallulah Gorge which was a first for us and our children. Lots of stairs but they were worth the views.

Road trip to Kansas and Missouri

This was our 2nd summer trip to visit a college friend in Missouri and a church friend in Kansas. This time we took the time to make a real stop in St Louis and loved the zoo there. We had a great time reconnecting with my friends and their children!

When home, we took advantage of our neighborhood pool, the public library and its programs and had fun around the house. Now that the children have been back in school for a couple of weeks, I am back to saving so we can plan some more vacations in the future, working on being creative in the kitchen to be thrifty and trying hard to stick to a small monthly budget for clothes ($20). I plan to thrift vs one click on Amazon and get back into thrifting. Thankfully my birthday is coming up in September so I will have a little money to play with and shop with!

A bientôt!
