Nativity Scenes
Today, I thought that I would share my Nativity scenes with you. I like to put them up at the same time as the rest of my Christmas decor so the boys remember the real reason for this time of celebration.
Italy
This is my oldest nativity scene. When my son was 16 months old, we traveled to Italy during the Christmas break to visit my younger brother who lived in Rome at the time. It was fun celebrating Christmas in Italy and we had many fun adventures. I found this small clay nativity scene in a village. The star came off last year and I glued it back on. I love the simplicity of it and the memories associated with it.
France
My best friend, Veronique sent me these santons de Noel a couple years ago. These little painted figurines usually originate from Provence, France. They are usually made of terracotta but these appear to be porcelain. The traditional ones have many different characters from a typical village and that is why many of the figurines do not look like they would be visitors in the small village of Bethlehem.
Cloth nativity
My mom had one of these years ago and she came across the fabric at JoAnn’s a few years ago. One of my friends help me sew it together. This nativity is fun for children because it is not breakable and can be played with.
Small santons de Noel nativity scene
Here is another French santon de Noel nativity scene which only has 3 people, Jesus, Mary and Joseph. It is terracota and hand painted. The halos are golden carboard and I lost Jesus’. This one is displayed on my computer desk.
The boys’ nativity scene
This cute nativity scene is in the boys’ bedroom. My mom gifted it to my oldest a few years ago and this year I thought it would be great in my 5 and 8 year old’s room. I have it displayed at play level, on top of their Ikea book shelf which is laid sideways.
Our main nativity scene that I usually put under our tree has several broken pieces so I am thinking of getting a new one when I go to Hobby Lobby next week. I need to take all the pieces out to see how many figurines are broken.
Hope you enjoyed these!

These are all beautiful and now nice that you got to purchase some while on vacation in Italy. I found a beautiful vintage Nativity set from Italy at Goodwill a few years ago. My all time favorite goodwill find for sure!

So sweet. I love nativity scenes and it seems to be very rare that people display them anymore. I have mine up all year round 🙂

What a great collection of nativity pieces you have! we only have two – a wooden nativity I got for the boys to play with (as they are not supposed to be playing with the decorations on the Christmas tree….) and a Willow Tree one I picked up on sale last year that I’ve wanted for years! I’d love to have more but we don’t have a lot of shelves in this house to put them on – all the storage space is in one of the many cupboards (i love having the space!)
Hope that you had a great weekend 🙂 It was a hot one here, summer has definitely arrived!

So does the Willow tree go on sale sometimes? I was thinking of checking after Christmas as I want that one for our family main one but it is pricey!
