Westin Sundial Restaurant in Atlanta

On Monday, I shared a special date night outfit for a night out in Atlanta. Today I wanted to share a little about our experience at the Westin Sundial Restaurant. Because we live a little north of Atlanta, anything downtown takes us between 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic. The restaurant is on the 73rd floor of the hotel and has beautiful views of the city.

We were to meet my husband’s uncle and his girlfriend and knowing that they were not far away, we asked to be seated. The young hostesses refused to seat us even though we had reservations because our full party was not there. This was the restaurant policy despite most tables being empty and none being 2 seater tables. We spoke to a manager who apologized and sat us and we ended up having the most delightful waiter. He kept us laughing, did a great job apologizing for our first impression and was knowledgeable about the menu. He also offered us some tips on taking pictures of the city so we wouldn’t see any reflections. I really love how my pictures turned out!

Everyone enjoyed their entrees thoroughly and the food presentation was very pretty. Having grown up in France, I am a little bit of a bread snob and wished they had some baguette or sophisticated bread instead of bread rolls. We had mussels as an appetizer and the portion was plentiful for 2 people to share. The broth the mussels were served in was very addictive. We took advantage of the bread rolls and didn’t let it go to waste. I had lamb as my entree. It was cooked in a Greek style with Kalamati olives, tzasiki sauce and it was very tasty.

My favorite part of the meal was dessert. Any time I see crème brulée, I have to order it. The funny thing is that I actually have never had it in France in the 14 years I lived there nor on our visits in recent years. However, anytime I see it on the menu in French restaurants or any restaurant, I order it and rate it. This one would not take first place but would be a contender for the top 3 I have had. I loved the presentation and the fruit was a nice addition.

I definitely recommend visiting this restaurant during evening hours when it is dark so that you may see the city lights because the views are quite incredible at night. Atlanta is no New York city but it is a pretty metropolis.

Be prepared to spend some money on dinner, this is not the place to go if you are on a budget. Most entrees are between $40- to $80. You could choose to enjoy dessert or have a cocktail in the bar/lounge and still enjoy the views.

I just had to include one last photo to summarize our enjoyable evening and we were very grateful for our uncle to treat us to such a special dinner experience.

A bientôt!
