Cloudland Canyon, North GA
On our way back from our mini vacation to Chattanooga, TN, we took some back roads home so we could hike down Cloudland Canyon. I had seen several pictures from friends who had been and despite the wet day, we decided to take the chance and take the trail down hoping it wouldn’t pour on us. Thankfully, it only drizzled a little and didn’t start really raining till we were almost at the car.
The view from the top gives a little idea of the depth of the canyon. The trail was well marked and there were steps down to the gorge and waterfalls.
Since my youngest had been cranky and all of the steps would have been no fun for him nor me, I carried him in my Ergo carrier. At 2 and 1/2 he actually walks most of the time when we hike. He finally did go to sleep on our way back up and I got a nice workout on this hike.
The rock facades as you travel down are quite awe inspiring with their height. We were able to pause here and there to look at the view and enjoy ourselves.
There are two waterfalls to admire at the bottom of the canyon and they are not far to hike from one to the other. After the last waterfall we visited in the summer that was practically non existent, it was really nice to see such a beautiful cascade of water.
The trail follows the river toward the next waterfall. I love seeing rushing water.
Pretty awesome isn’t it? If you are ever in the Chattanooga area, you should take advantage of the short 30 minute drive to this state park and visit the falls.
A bientĂ´t!

Lol! I was just glad, there was water! Nothing like going to see a waterfall in a drought and seeing a trickle of water. With all of the rain we have had, now is the time to visit waterfalls.
