Enjoy the little things!
We may not be able to fly anywhere right now nor plan any vacations but we can savor the little things. This is the first of 3 posts sharing some of the beauty in nature that my kids and I have encountered on our walks and adventures. One of the things that I have really enjoyed these past couple of weeks is nature and how beautiful the area I live in is. Wildflowers, grass, trees, blue skies: they make my heart sing. I am so grateful right now for the beauty in God’s creation. So today I am sharing some pictures my son and I took last week on our outings.
Wildflowers
This one has become my new phone background. The Indian Mounds is the only place I have seen with fields of wildflowers.
I love the variety in color. I just want to sit and enjoy the beauty.
Trees
All of the pictures were taken by my son. He has a great eye for composition!
This was a spot I had never seen at the mounds, a little swamp.
Look at the green grass! Doesn’t it make you happy (or perhaps sneeze!)?
This last picture is from the state park. We went back yesterday for a picnic.
Large expanses
I cannot wait to go back! Until they start charging an entrance fee again this is going to be my go to spot for blog pictures.
I will leave you with a picture of the turtles: we did not see any snakes on these particular two outings. I know some of you do not like snakes!
So go out there and enjoy something in nature! It may not be a large nature park but even a small spot of grass in the shade of a tree can bring peace to the soul. I sometime sit in my yard facing the trees instead of the street and enjoy that small spot of nature. The sunshine and nature are great balms for your spirit!

Your son does have a great gift in photography. I love the picture he took from the back as your family walked.

There is nothing like being out in nature to lift the spirits! For vacations, we used to take the kids hiking All. The. Time. We were never into theme parks and such. They still enjoy nature as young adults.

Hope that they will! At least, they are now starting to ask about going!

Those wildflowers are so pretty! Yesterday was gorgeous and I spent so much time outside that it really lifted my mood.

Such beautiful photos, Mireille! I love the field of wildflowers. Gorgeous. But so are all the other photos. Isnโt it fun to see all the turtles sun-bathing?

What beautiful pics – your son is very talented at photography! ๐ A college here is doing free photography courses while we are in home isolation and I’m tempted to take it and try improve my skills! I don’t have a lot of free time though ๐
We find even a little walk along a quiet bush trail near our house really helps the boys – it’s nice to get out into nature, although tricky to do with my knee at the moment unfortunately (the rough uneven trail makes it a sore walk).
Hope you are having a great week ๐

How long is the prognosticy for your knee to heal?

This goes to show how Mother Nature can be so fabulous for us, Mireille. I bet your boys agree!!

Everything is so pretty and green! I am loving those blue skies too. I know it will look like that here too before I know it but I am so anxious for nice weather and budding trees; even if it will make my allergies go nutty for a bit.

Yes, living in the south, we do get our spring earlier than you all! But we also will get the crazy heat so I sure am hoping that the pool will be open. Otherwise we are going to have to be creative to be cool and still have fun!

It is so beautiful there! I love all the green and blooms. We have some trees blooming here and bulbs, but that is about it for now. I can’t wait for a lot of pretty blooms in my garden in May!
