Favorite April and May Looks
What constitutes a favorite look? Something new and unexpected shopped mostly from my closet, something I felt good in and looked good in pictures too (one doesn’t always translates into the other, lol). Color for some days and neutrals for others, variety I think for me is the key. I like to come up with new outfits either by looking at my closet or by finding inspiration from another blogger. Today, I am taking a look back at my favorite outfits from the last two months.
I featured these white beach pants in the last couple of posts and this shows you again how versatile they are. I really prefer to wear a fitted top like this one with them to offset the wide legs. Since the colors in the tee were darker (I find it more fallish), I added my safron colored earrings to the outfit.
What I like about my outfits in the past couple of months is that they are so varied. Skirts, dresses, pants, shorts, colors, neutrals, white… Lots of variety makes getting dressed fun! These pants were a Goodwill find a year ago and I typically wear them with black.
I have been loving graphic tees especially paired with skirts: they are a fun way to modernize a skirt. This elastic band skirt is very comfortable even running around 4 kids. Love me a colorful pair of sandals: these are at least 3 years old and were found on clearance at Target.
I did buy a pair of white denim shorts at the beginning of May: it is too hot for jeans in Georgia and I have worn my white bottoms so much that I knew I would get lots of wear out of these. For a change I found a neutral tee to pair with it.
Variety! I love this dress but I do not love it as a standalone: I wish more dresses had short sleeves versus a tank strap. I also like to wear it with my heart graphic tee on top. Going to see what other combinations I can create with it because I really like the blue and yellow colors!
Oh, my leopard earrings! I cannot believe that I found my lost earring after 11 months! Going to try to create more kimono outfits this summer. Perfect over a graphic tee or a tank.
Dressed up with nowhere to go but sitting in my car: I wore this to the orthodontist, the middle school and CVS and stayed in my car in all 3 places! This was another of my top thrift store finds: a White House Black Market gem!
I remember this look being inspired by Shelly from TheQueeninBetween. Shopped by closet to find similar pieces.
Last is another look with a thrifted piece, this White House Black Market tunic that I found at least 3 years ago. I haven’t worn it much in the past couple of years so I decided to take it out for a spin which meant picking rocks in our yard (don’t ask, experiment gone a little wrong, lol!). Who says you can’t look cute doing yard work: it was not sweaty work, just hot work so I added a hat for sun protection.
There you have them: some of my favorite Spring looks! It feels good to have gotten rid of things over the past year to curate a wardrobe that I really enjoy. As a stay at home mom and really staying at home the past couple of months, wearing fun outfits has been a creative and enjoyable outlet!

I love that striped top on those white trousers! But where do you buy your earrings? Love them all!

I get my earrings (the leather ones) from Nickel and Suede), I almost only wear those because they are so lighweight.
Jennifer
Love all of these!

Great looks, Mireille! I *really* like the black graphic tee and skirt outfit. You really made an effort to look good in spite of the circumstances! Kudos to you for doing the work on streamlining your wardrobe to things you really like. It’s easier said than done.

Thanks, Kimberly! I have gotten better at buying things that I am actually going to get a lot of wear out of!

These are all great but so loving that maxi dress on you! I’ve been thinking of adding a Kimono to my wardrobe as well, they look fabulous with shorts, I just haven’t found one yet at a price I want to pay as I don’t know how much wear I’ll get out of it, I don’t want it to cost a lot.

Amazon to the rescue! There are many for around $15 on Amazon!

I can see why these are among your favorites, Mireille! You look fantastic in all of them. The pieces that stand out to me are the multi-colored stripe tee in the first pic, the lovely kimono and the black & white tunic in the last. I think I need more kimonos in my life…..

I love that blue and yellow dress and I know what you mean. I’m trying to give the tank strap ones a go now since it’s so hot here. I used to hate my bra showing but I’m trying to not let it bother me.
I love all of these outfits!!

Absolutely right that feeling good and looking good in a photo are not the same! I absolutely love that black/white tunic with the white pants outfit.
mimifce
Thanks: isn’t it funny though that I hadn’t worn it in at least 2 years. I knew it was a keeper but now was the right time. Will have to come up with an idea on how to restyle it.

OK, so I can’t name just one favorite and here is why. I love white pants, trousers or jeans so anything with those I love. In turn, black and white is one of my most favorite combinations because of the drama and graphic impact they present. And then there’s your maxi dress with the jean jacket-Classic everyday chic! Finally, there’s my love of wearing a black top with bright and bold prints to counterbalance them. You hit quite a few nails on the head here.
Take care and stay safe

Thanks, Terri! I love your reply! I was pretty pleased how the outfits turned out: making new outfits from what I had was really fun!
Laura Bambrick
I definitely can’t pick a favorite here! You have lots of cute outfits lately! The chevron maxi dress is especially adorable!
mimifce
Thanks, Laura! The funny thing is that most of the stuff is older items: just finding better pairings maybe? And with weather changing, it feels like they are new to me!
Amanda @ That Inspired Chick
The black and white dress is so cute!! I need that!

Thanks, Amanda!

I truly love all of these outfits. Well done on buying what you really love and shopping your closet. I am trying to do the same and also having success. It really shows in your outfits, you are looking more super stylish than ever – many have not been able to achieve this in lock down. I think you are really on top of what suits you. Lise

Thanks, Lise! I still have a couple older pieces that I may get rid of as I am not wearing them but yes, I really have been pairing it down and adding things that are going to be keepers!

Thanks, Kathrine! I ended up putting 4 things aside to donate in my closet tonight but all of these are keepers though! Seeing my favorite outfits is helping me see and learn what works and doesn’t.

Great looks! I love those white pants, I want a pair of tan or white linen pants, but lots are sold out now. The black and white combo is sensational on you and the fun fun tee dress does look fun, especially with the red sandals.
thanks for linking!

I saw some linen pants on Amazon, Honey We’re home had linked them last Friday I think in her Amazon post and they looked pretty nice!
Alexandra
Those blue pants look AWESOME, and so comfortable!
mimifce
They were quite a surprise buy, out of my comfort zone but since I was thrifting it was not a big deal if I ended up not liking them. Turns out they are keepers!
