Weekend at the Lake

This past weekend was the first time that we traveled since Martin Luther King’s long weekend. I have gone on errands, we have gone to state parks and places to hike but we have slept home every night for the past 4 months. So heading to our uncle’s lake house was something we looked forward to after we planned it a couple of weeks ago. The house sits on a lake in Alabama and is a 2 hour drive from our house. We always bring food with us to help with meals and try to clean up after ourselves so we don’t have things laying around while we are there.

Fun things to do

We are lucky that my hubby’s uncles has made some fun improvements to his property the lasted being a zipline. The kids had a blast and I enjoyed a few rides on it too.

The kids can get on by themselves safely and enjoy it. A few more years, and my toddler will be able too!

The boys practiced rock skipping! My husband and his uncle each had a different technique to share and it was fun to see how many skips everyone could make.

Boat rides are always fun and we usually are able to go on a few pontoon rides during our visits especially if it is in the summer.

I had ordered a bathing suit during Target’s B1G1 sale last week but it did not arrive on time. I didn’t like any of the pics the kids took of my old suit so I used the litle one as my accessory, lol.

We ate a lot of yummy food on the weekend but my favorite was went the ice cream boat docked and I had a choco taco! The boys were excited as they were wondering if it would come by. It was a couple years since they had seen it: such a great concept: ice cream truck on the water!

Outfits

I brought my wide legged pants knowing that I could stay cool in them and enjoyed them while sitting in the grass supervising the kiddos: less mosquitoes bites too. I later changed to get on the pontoon but was glad I brough these.

I decided to take advantage of the large mirror next to the colorful front door. My old Old Navy shorts are still coming in handy. I wished they were higher waisted but I still enjoy them.

The scenery

Sunrises and sunsets over the water are just beautiful. I will be sharing the pictures of the sunset my son took next week with hopefully some poems by my boys. Here was the sunrise on Monday.

The view from our porch is really pretty. We usually have our toddler sleep on the floor on a pallet of blankets and the boys stay in another room, using bed and floor too.

I thought this was a fun picture that my husband took: it looks like a jungle on the porch. Need to use the porch as inspiration: I need to get some porch furniture for our side porch to have more seating.

I will leave you with pictures of my husband grilling that chicken recipe I shared a couple weeks ago

and of course a picture of me with a snake!!

A bientôt!
