Douceur de France: A Taste of France in Marietta, GA
To celebrate our September birthdays, my friend and I decided to have lunch at Douceur de France in Marietta, GA. There is a sister store in Roswell,GA which I have frequented more but this location is now closer to me. I have been several times for breakfast treats and lunch too and have some favorites. Some of the breakfast pastries compare to ones in France and others I pass on as not to be disappointed. My favorite is the pain aux raisins which is always nice and moist (it is a spiral flaky pastry with raisins) and compare to ones in France.
As far as lunch, I chose my favorite, Tartine Corse with is an open face sandwich with goat cheese, tomatoes and walnuts served over a delicious simple salad. My friend and I decided that we need to eat more salad. She had a quiche du jour with zucchini and swiss with a caesar salad. We both loved our meals.
For dessert, we shared a slice of Napoleon or Mille Feuille which was very tasty too! We ate indoors as it was pretty hot out and tables were nicely spaced.
One of the things that I like about Douceur de France is that is is a bakery, a restaurant as well as a little store. I can find my favorite dijon mustard, the boys favorite syrop and a myriad of other French treats.
The parking lot was full but our wait was not too long. We had time to choose some pastries to take home before we were walked to our table.
The funny thing is that I had not been here for a year but I have come about 4 times in the last 3 weeks: that is not good for my wallet but we do have lots of celebrations in September. Lunch is actually very affortable, my plate was less than $10 but when I buy pastries or viennoiseries (croissants…), it adds quickly with 4 kids and all the tempting things!
I am actually glad I don’t live any closer but this does also inspire me to try a few new recipes in the next couple of months. Tomato basil soup? Yes. I also want to try a new homemade vinaigrette recipe and get back to eating more salads!
I hope you enjoyed this little trip to France in Marietta! Hungry yet?
A bientôt!

Hello Mireille, What a wonderful post. That is my kind of place too. Unfortunately, I’m now on a no sugar and super low carb diet so I can only dream. But these beautiful images were sure a pick me up. But with a wonderful establishment like that I could see me going off the wagon. The desert case looks amazing!

I am way off the wagon lately! But my meal there has me wishing for simpler meals. I just need to take some time and write down some ideas!

Yes! What it did though, is get me to want to eat more like I did in France while visiting last year. More fresh things, more salads! And dairy here and there!

My mouth is watering! That tartine sounds so good and the pastries all look delicious. I used to work at a French bakery and this reminds me of that a little. Yum!

I am going to try to recreate it at home!

What a fun way to celebrate your birthdays! Everything looks sooooo good. Yum! I miss all the delicious food from Spain. I was only in France for one day, so I didn’t get to experience the true French bakery, but we went to a couple of Spanish bakeries and they were so delicious.
Miles of smiles,

The Spanish bakeries are great too! This little outing made me realize I should do something like that more often!

Oh wow, Mireille, everything looks so amazing! I would have a hard time not buying all the pastries, too. This is why I cannot frequent my local bakery either…no good for the wallet or the waistline! Hahaha. But what a wonderful place to go for little celebrations! Thanks for sharing and linking up.
