20 for 2020

Today I am joining Carrie at  A Stylish Fit with a 20 for 2020 post. Please visit her post and link up! I thought this would be a nice way to remember 2020. While there were some definitely stressful times in 2020 in our family (unrelated to Covid), it was actually a good year for our family. Since this is a lengthy post, I am not going to use full size pictures as it would take quite a while to load up and scroll down. Please remember that we tend to share the good stuff but it isn’t the full picture of our life. I don’t want you to compare your year to mine, we were very blessed to be able to take some vacations that allowed us to still social distance from others.

1. Weekend in Chattanooga, TN

Before we knew that we would be stuck at home for a while, we spent a weekend in Chattonooga doing all the fun things on a budget. We need to go back to the aquarium during the break to make our aquarium membership worthwhile since we didn’t return.

2. Birthdays

Fun little homemade cakes are great for the budget!

3. Double Date Nights

Last evening dates in a restaurant for 2020! We went to the Westin in downtown Atlanta, a treat from our uncle and the following week, we went on a 2nd double date with some friends.

4. Spring Hikes

We went on a lot of day hikes in the spring. With the kids at home full time, we needed some fresh air and some outings!

5. Blog Anniversary

I reached my first year of blogging in March!

6. Pascha

Thankful to have been able to celebrate Pascha/Easter at church, our church being such a small church, we were able to have a service.

7. Bike Rides and Free Outings

Our local Historic Site was free for the few months of Covid and the Indian Mounds were beautiful in the spring.

8. Blog collaborations with Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood

Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood asked me to join her to collaborate for a few of her Thursday Moda link ups and later on decided to start up again her monthly Sunday Showcase on the 1st Sunday of each month. It has been fun getting to know her, start a frienship and create fun content together.

9. My New Firepit

Another great budget creation was our firepit: just a morning work and we have enjoyed some fun fires.

10. Weekend in Alabama

We spent a weekend at our uncle’s house in June, the first time away since January.

11.Week in North Carolina

This was our first vacation since the start of Covid, and we chose to spend a week in North Carolina so we could spend time outdoors and do safe activities away from people.

12. Sunflower Field

Something I had been wanting to do for the past few years!

13. Our New Porch

On our home improvement list was a covered patio. The cement patio was there but we needed some shade!

14. My 45th Birthday

Small celebration of just our little family but it was fun day! My friend and I went to the French bakery to celebrate our birthdays. Hubby and I went on an anniversary date and we had a family trip at the apple orchard.

15. Week in Charleston, South Carolina

It had been several years since we had been to Charleston and we used some hotel points for our stay. What a great city!

16. Thanksgiving Week at the Beach

We spent Thanksgving at the beach for the 3rd year in a row. Planning to keep that going!

17. New Christmas Traditions

We have been playing a lot of Christmas music, started a hot cocoa bar which the boys are really enjoying and I started the new tradition of getting family pjs. It is fun to see all the boys wearing the same pjs.

18. Healthy Family

We have been healthy this year apart from the usual little colds and ear infections. We have been able to keep a good routine of exercising outdoors. I’ve been trying to juice (we like to juice oranges, apples and carrots together) and just started making regular smoothies adding some greens and protein.

19. Kids In Person School

After 3 week of virtual school, the children transitioned to hybrid and then full time in person school. They have been in person since September apart from a couple weeks of hybrid school for my high schooler. I am very grateful for that!

20. Mom Still Cancer Free

Thanks be to God, my mom is still cancer free (it has been about a year and half now) and while she has been dealing with issues due to radiation, she is starting to feel better for the most part.

A bientôt!

What a wonderful look back; I am so jealous of your travels… even if they are mostly local! I haven’t been able to get my family to travel anywhere aside from our quick weekend in Maine but I have warned them all that I plan to travel a lot once we can!

  • Ellibelle

Great post and great look back at the year. So glad you were able travel some, we’re too far to travel anywhere of much interest (had a place booked in Colorado but decided to cancel due to the lengths of the trip) but we enjoyed the outdoors here in our area instead.

So happy to hear your mom is still cancer free, wishing her all the best and that she continues to be healthy, and hope she has a quick recovery from all the side effects too!

Thank you, Ellibelle. The side effects sure have been a pain for her! I am glad you are enjoying the outdoors in your area. We discovered several new to us state parks this year and looking forward to visiting more in the spring.

I didn’t know your mom had been dealing with cancer. I am so glad she is cancer free and regaining her strength.

I would continue that Thanksgiving at the beach too! Awesome tradition. 😀 You did manage to have a good year in spite of Covid. And that is no small feat.

    Happy New Year!

It has been! Yes, she had a cancerous tumor in her throat too high to remove so had to have chemo and radiation. The long term effects are that have been a pain!

This is such a great round-up! It’s fun to think about all the good things that happened. I love that dragon brownie cake, and I’m glad you finally got to take pics in a sunflower field! I’ve been wanting to do that, too. Cheers to 2021!

    Miles of smiles,

Thanks, Shelbee! My intention is not to make others jealous but just to share what has worked for us and how our year has gone so I am glad that is how it has been received. Yes, just a few more months and 2 full years of blogging! I remember exactly when I decided to give it a try! I am so grateful for all of the link ups that have allowed my posts to be read!
