My Haircut: Low Maintenance and Easy

By now you all know how low maintenance I am as far as make up and hair goes: I rarely wear makeup and only use chapstick and gloss daily and I really don’t do much with my hair. I have had different haircuts over the years and have tried growing out my hair a few times but I always come back to this haircut. Short bob with a fun cut in the back. I only have to blow dry it after a wash and then just comb it every morning. In today’s post I include 2 sets of pictures taken after my haircuts, probably 5 months apart.

Looking at these pictures makes me look forward to getting my hair cut again and colored in the fall before my birthday: I haven’t had it highlighted in about a year and it is time. I have lots of greys right now! My hairdresser is a friend from church I have known for almost 18 years and while I have gone to a couple of other hairdressers over the years, she is now the only one I go to. I usually drive an hour to her house (used to be 15 minutes before I moved) but she did come here last May and did my hair as well as give my boys a haicut. She will be out of the country this summer so my hair will be growing out till August!

By the way, Cammi from MyHappyPlace shared a tip about double chins and pictures that I didn’t know at the time of the above picture which is to push out your head forward when you take pictures to eliminate the double chin. I am assuming it works on profile pictures too. I need to remember that trick!

Some ladies look great with long, flowy hair: I have learned with time what works for me and this is it! I usually can go about 3 months in between haircuts before it desperately need a trim. I do not use any products and wash it every 2 to 3 days.  Just noticed the streak of grey hair in the above pictures: funny how I can take daily and blog pictures and not notice certain things.

If you like a low maintenance haircut and you want to try something different, pin some pictures of hairstyles you like and ask your hairdresser what she/he thinks would work best for you. I love going to my friend’s because each time, she adjusts the haircut a little and has figured out what works best for me. I haven’t regretted going shorter.

And of course if you have been around since the beginning of the blog, you have seen my hair in between haircuts: it begins to look a little unkempt without a trim. I did like it last fall when I was playing around with trying to curl it.

Well, that is all I have about my haircut! One of my readers was asking me some questions about it and I thought it would be a fun blog post to share. Do you have a go to haircut or do you like to try new styles? Would you consider yourself high or low maintenance in the hair department?

A bientôt!

I love your hairstyle! I’m more low maintenance but my hair is high maintenance because it is so baby fine and frizzes at the first sign of humidity. I had short hair when I was in my 20’s but it’s been long ever since. I’m due for a haircut and have been debating on a completely new cut. Have a wonderful weekend!

I’m pretty low fuss and low maintenance with my hair too (and I don’t wear makeup either– maybe for a date or a wedding but that’s about it). However, I learned pretty quickly that short cuts dont work on me mostly because my hair grows so darn fast! I have definitely showed a few photos through the years to my hairdresser and since she knows me so well I have had her tell me a time or two that it’s much too high maintence for me and would require blowdrying and styling each day. Though I am on a hunt for a new style because even though I only break down for a perm once a year I’d love to do away with those entirely too. But my hair is neither straight nor curly and pretty much has a mind of it’s own…

It’s the perfect, low maintenance haircut, Mireille! And it really suits you. I’m lucky that I can wear super short pixie styles or have it long. I also like it in a bob too! I can never decide what to do with it lol. But since I’ve been getting more and more into photography I’ve decided to keep mine long for the time being, because it looks good from a distance!

I think your hair looks great and it looks so neat from the side with that swoop around your ear! It’s important to know what suits you best and I think you’ve got the perfect look. I am very conscious of my hair and it is one of my best assets, but I did not get it cut for over a year because of you know what, when I had the 2 vaccinations and felt safe I went to a new hairdresser and how good that was as he was brilliant. I’m going back to have a bit more cut off and am really looking forward to that appointment!

Btw, your streaks of grey are lovely and I bet people would pay to look like you! Nice post 🙂

Thank you! I have had all kind of length over the years and this seems to really work well at this stage in my life. I know you were so excited for your last hairdressing appoint. I am glad you can now go back regularly!

Hubby likes long hair but mine just really looks better this way: he is now use to it and likes it well enough lol!

Very chic ‘do. And bonus that it is low manintenance, too. I like my hair a little shorter but the whole family likes it longer. Ugh. Desperately need a cut that has to happen this week.

I love your haircut! You look great with your hair this way. This is my go-to haircut too. My hair is now down past my butt, and I wear it up in a messy bun everyday, but I keep thinking more and more about cutting it again like this – I just don’t like have to blow dry it. Call me lazy, haha!

I definitely like not having to do much work with it and taking only 4 to 5 minutes to dry it.

    Hi Mireille,
Thank you so much for commenting on your hair cut and also for all the great photos. I love the streak of gray as it really shows off the soft swoop of your cut. ( I thought it was a well placed highlight!) I know you are busy, so I do appreciate you taking the time to comment on how you cut and care for your great looking hair.

Sorry for my delay in commenting…had a stretch of family members visiting for the past few weeks to be by the ocean. But now they are all back and buttoned up in their lives and work again so I have time to catch up!

I just opened today’s post and should really comment there, but that blue dress is absolutely gorgeous on you. I keep thinking I should do more color, so perhaps I will get out of my rut thanks to you! Again, thanks so much for the hair info.

Thanks Pam! I always enjoy seeing how other people style their hair so I am glad the post was helpful. I have really brought a lot of color to my closet this summer and I will say it really lifts my mood. I still like neutrals too so I try to balance it all with my daily outfits. Hope you enjoyed all of that family time.
