Fab 40s: Inspired by Candy Crush
So this month, it was my turn to chose the theme for our Fab 40s group! The Fab 40s is is a group of five fashion bloggers from around the globe. Each month we choose a different theme with the goal of taking on style trends and showing how we each interpret and incorporate them into our own lives. With five widely varied views, you are certain to find something that speaks to you each month and encourages you to continue to have fun with fashion after the age of 40.
I worked backwards and decided I want to wear this skirt that I was planning to donate (pleats do not do me any favors!) and then came up with my idea of a theme! I wanted an idea that would force us to be creative and since it was summer I wanted it to involve color. As I am writing this, I am very curious to see what the ladies have come up with. Ada is taking the next two months off to focus on family so you will see only 4 of us interpreting this theme.
I thought it would be fun to play the game while taking my pictures therefore I am holding my phone! Candy Crush is a fun simple colorful game so I wanted to add a few colorful accessories: my Target yellow sandals, Amazon tile bracelets and a statement necklace from World Market. The beret is from Ross, Dress for Less. All are shopped from my closet and one to more years old.
I had fun turning this skirt into a dress but still find that it doesn’t do me any favors. While I was not completely successful with my no shopping months, I am glad that I did not do any impulse buying and got only 2 things that I had been looking at and for for a while. I also only completed 45 days. It did help me refocus on shopping my closet and making a list of what not to buy. Something that looks great on someone else might not be for me!
We hadn’t tried this type of picture in a while. Fun and artistic isn’t it? Thankful for my teen photographer who is will to be patient and try different things.
I really like the trick of turning a skirt into a dress: I have tried it with a maxi skirt and found that it works really well that way. I have a black midi jersey pencil skirt that might look cute belted as a dress if it not too short! Maybe an idea for a fall post!
And now for the ladies!
Suzy of The Grey Brunette
I love seeing how we interpret this theme! Now everyone knew about the Candy Crush game but once you realize it is just about colored candy, inpiration flows! Love the colors in Suzy’s outfit!
Shelbee from Shelbee on the Edge
Look at all the colors and patterns and how well they work together!
Daenel from Living Outside the Stacks
I love that we all have an underlying color scheme that is similar:
each of us has some fushia in our outfits. This is another gorgeous outfit!
A bientôt!

I have seen these posts before…using a skirt to dress idea. But, I have never tried it. You make it look so easy and so very cute! I can see why you don’t want to part with that skirt. I love all of the colors and stripes. Love, love, love the artsy photo! Now, I’m going to go rummage through my closets and see if I can make a skirt into a dress!

Love these colorful pleats, and what a great idea to try the skirt as a dress! I’m sorry to read you still don’t like this dress/skirt on you, as I think these colors looks so nice on you! Wonder if you could alter it in a way that you would like it more… Of course I can imagine it being so hard working/sewing with pleated fabric!
A really fun theme you selected, everyone was so creative with it!
