November Sunday Showcase: A Thanksgiving Outfit Option
I am glad to share the spotlight once again with Ada (Elegance and Mommyhood) who is back to blogging after a couple of months break. Today we are sharing some Thanksgiving outfit ideas. I will be sharing another holiday look next week which could work throughout fall and winter. Living in the South, a fall outfit may or may not work for Thanksgiving. It may be chilly or it may decide to be 75 degrees. We have been spending Thanksgiving in Florida for the past few years, so I usually do not wear one of these options as they are typically too warm but I love the inspiration that can be used for other get togethers in the fall.
I oftentimes wear pants on Thanksgiving, stretchy pants at that, but I thought it would be fun to share an outfit with a skirt. This less than $10 skirt was a find at Gabes which is a store that I feel is a cross between Ross and TJMaxx.
In the fall, I am all about fall colors and these boots and this shacket are quintessential fall colors as well as great neutrals. I found the boots on clearance last year in summer on the Sole Society website. The shacket was my last buy this fall 3 weeks ago: I took advantage of one of the Old Navy sales and shopped the girls’ section for extra savings! This one looks like the same but in a different color way since mine is out of stock. I am wearing size XL because they did not have the larger sizes (it comes in girls XXL and 2X) so it is a little short in the sleeves. I actually like it that way since I often times pull my sleeves up if I am wearing long sleeves.
My son and I enjoyed taking these pictures by the bales of hay. It was pretty funny because I had past this spot several times that week and kept saying that I wanted to take pictures there before they picked up the bales of hay. While we were taking our pictures, a gentleman was doing just that: he was picking them all up and stacking them on wagons. Great timing on our part!
I do not change my purse very often: I am too lazy for that but tend to wear the same purse for several weeks to a couple of months in a row. This Amazon one I tend to wear in the fall. I really love the braided detail on the front and the fun tassel (the one linked is in a different color). I can wear is as a crossbody or just over the shoulder.
I wanted to show the interesting detail on the boots (that I also wore in this Thanksgiving outfit post last year) as well as the length of the shacket in the back: it is slightly longer and as a reminder this is a girls not women shacket. I am 5’4″.
I love taking picture in locations with few people: I can act a little crazy and not be embarassed. One way to wear layers when it is not really cold is to wear a tank top as your base. My Target tank tops have been in heavy rotation. I do not wear necklaces very often but when I do they are typically pendants as they are handy to give interest to a plain top.
I love that both Ada and I are sharing non pants outfits and I am really loving that dress of hers. The textured pantyhose really add a nice dimension to the dress too.

This month I chose Imogen’s post Question you ask yourself when building a wardrobe (Inside Out Style blog) since I have been working hard on that this year at times buying items, other times purging or curating my wardrobe to reflect who I am as well as having periods of time when I halt my shopping. I really like the question about figuring out what is is that you like about your 5 favorite most flattering pieces and figuring out if they had anything in common.
Now please link up your latest blog or Instagram post!
One of my favorite things in the fall where I live is the fields: the fields of cotton and the fields of grass that are harvested into balls of hay. I pass them every day on the way to the boys’ schools and they look beautiful in the fog, in the morning light and at sunset.
I love fall!
A bientôt!

Such a great autumn outfit! The denim skirt looks great with that jacket and the boots, lovely autumn colours! 🙂

Thanks, Mica! I am enjoying the fall weather.

Mireille,
What a fabulous idea to shop in the girls’ section of ON. I’d never thought of it nor was I aware that the sizing in that department would overlap with women’s. Brilliant. And so is your Thanksgiving look. I’m quite fond of denim skirts whether or not they’re trending. They pair up so well with tall boots and shackets.

I was surprised that the girls department went to 2X which might be as big as adult M (would have to try). I figured I would try since I had bought a sweatshirt a couple years ago in the boys department in XL. I do love denim skirts with tall boots!

Mireille, I love this outfit! The all boots with the denim skirt are so great. And the back detail of those boots is amazing, too! I love that you added the plaid shacket in fall colors. Your photos are autumn perfection!

So glad to be back and co-hosting the showcase with you. I truly love this outfit and I need to get that shacket for VIVIAN and myself too, so we can twin. I love those boots too as I mentioned on my post, even more now that I saw the woven braiding detail on the back – so cool! Once again a gorgeous location for photos and so FALL-ish.
Now let’s come up with a great theme for December!!

I still need to get to your post! Days have been busy here too.

You look lovely in these fall clothes! In Indiana, we do tend to have cool if not cold Thanksgiving. We don’t usually dress up that much, but I may change that now that I’m a blogger (hahaha)! I never thought to shop in the girls’ section, but I’ll be checking it out now!

There are times when short sleeves are appropriate on Thanksgiving so it is all about layers.

I’m glad to see Ada back to blogging! 🙂 And I love your turkey day look. Definitely something we could wear here in CA since the weather usually isn’t that cold that day either.

Sometimes it is short sleeve weather! Especially now that we go to the beach that week.

Loving this casual Thanksgiving look! Give me all the plaid right now. 🙂

Mireille, I absolutely LOVE this outfit!! You look so cute and trendy! I love the plaid with the brown boots, and it all pairs perfectly with your denim skirt. I usually just wear whatever is loosest/comfiest on Thanksgiving. The hay background is also perfect! I never change my purse either… In fact, I have a lot of purses, but I mostly only use them in blog photos rather than out and about (so many purses are too tiny to be functional on a day-to-day basis!).

That’s me with purses so I try not to buy them anymore unless I know I will really use them. I got this cute camo mini crossbody last year at the beach and I am about to take it out to use again.

Great yet practical! Love the dotty dress too! #LinkupPotpourri

Thanks, Lydia! I probably will wear something more comfy since we will be at the beach but I really like this outfit.

I’m so in love with this fall look! The shacket looks great with the denim skirt and tan boots.

So many ways to wear these pieces: I think they will stick quite a while in my closet.
Michelle
What a great look! Perfect for Fall. The detailing on your boots is unusual. I really like it. And to me, the shacket is a perfect fit. And what a cool location for a photo shoot! Glad you got your photos done before the bales were picked up.

They are a very comfortable pair and nicer than some of my others as they are leather. Loving the shacket!

Hi Mirielle!
You know how much I love Fall colors and this shacket is fab on you! I havent gotten into the tread as I have loads of jackets but I do like them on others such as yourself. Those boots – I love the detail . I am with you on perferring to have little audience when taking pictures.
mimifce
Yes, I probably have more than enough jackets in my closet too! Even though our weather is pretty mild them, I just am alwasy drawn to them.
Alexandra
It’s so funny for me to think about how warm it is here in Florida compared to many other places, but you are so right! Most years, I find myself with a short sleeve shirt on. Thank goodness for fun Fall graphic tees that come in short sleeve options.
mimifce
Yes! We were actually a little chilled at the beach this Thankgiving but some days were nice in short sleeves.
