Inspired by I Do DeClaire: Red and Stripes
One of the tips I have for shopping your closet successfully is to search for inspiration on Pinterest or Instagram while knowing what it hanging in your closet. If your closet is stuffed to the gills and you cannot see what you have, you may not be able to find inspiration that you can actually copy or replicate. Remember though that it does not have to be an exact copy. As you will see in this post my outfit is very similar to Laura’s from I do DeClaire who was my inspiration but it is not an exact copy.
The idea is there but with the colors but the cuts of my pieces are different than hers. This outfit is a great example of where I shop: Target denim jacket, Amazon striped tee, Old Navy pants and shoes from Nordstrom. I do try to stay away from Amazon but I have found some basics with their Daily Ritual line that I really like and Nordstrom has to have a sale or the item has to be a favorite (like some of my Zella pieces) for me to pay full price.
My hair did not cooperate in this picture! Knowing that we would be in downtown Atlanta to visit the aquarium, I decide to take advantage of the different background opportunity to take blog pictures. I typically screenshot pictures of outfits I want to replicate on Instagram and wear them either as a OOTD or with having in mind to take blog pictures some time during the day.
It was the first time for the boys to walk around in Atlanta since we chose a restaurant that was several blocks away from the aquarium. They were very interested in all of the buildings and sculptures. We tend to visit outdoor places but not large cities (we have been to New York several times but the boys were very young) and they did go to Paris two years ago and really like that visit too. I guess we will have to come back with my husband to walk around some more.
The only thing I wasn’t sure about with this outfit was which shoes to wear. I always try a number of shoes when I am wearing pants that are a little cropped and not a skinny cut. I like some more than others with that type of pant cut. These wedge sneakers ended up being fairly comfortable but I did get a couple of little blisters by the end of the day. We also stopped by Target and Rack Room Shoes on the way home.
Do you copy other bloggers outfits or find inspiration to create new outfits from your closet on Pinterest? Is your closet easy to “shop”? Or is is overflowing and disorganized? If it is, you will be surprised at how much more inspiration you will have if you sort, donate and organize it: in many case, less is more and you can figure out what you need to add to your wardrobe to have a more complete closet.

That’s such a nice outfit and I do love those red pants! They really suit you and are so jolly and fun. Also it’s so interesting (as ever) to see pix of the States. Your hair looks great btw!

I need to wear them several times this spring!

I definitely look for inspriation from other bloggers but rarely have anything that is an exact copy; I always have my own little spin on it. This is a cute and cheery outfit; but sorry you had a few blisters by the end of the day.

This one was a pretty close one for me!

I just cleaned out my closets as they were to full with stuff I never wear. I now have all my skirts and trousers in one tops in the other, jackets and one with dresses. I often am inspired on IG.

It really helps to reorganize. This morning I am putting more winter stuff away!

Laura has some of the cutest outfits and you styled this outfit beautifully. You can’t go wrong with stripes and to be honest, when I saw your outfit, I immediately thought the 4th of July. Not only does your outfit work for daily life but also for holidays. That’s the best outfits of all in my book! I have a smaller closet. I tend to repeat my clothes over and over which makes me wonder at times why I decided to be a style blogger. Seriously I am not creative at all and my style is so basic! Wishing you a beautiful week ahead!

It sure does. I am enjoying rewearing what I have and realizing how certain pieces are 4 to 5 years old and I still wear them on a regular basis. Of course there are new things too…

Mireille, this has to be one of my favorite looks yet! I am always a sucker for a striped top! You look fabulous in the entire outfit, and the shoes are perfect! Your little accessory with the glasses is pretty cute, too!

I think you rocked this outfit and I love the addition of the leopard shoes you wore with it! I love using pinterest to ‘collect’ inspirational outfits-but I really try hard to only pin outfits when I already have the items to recreate it! It’s much more fun that way!
mimifce
Exactly! I have to spend a little time on Pinterest next time I need inspiration.

Look at you! I love the red + stripes! You nailed Laura’s look!

Your outfit looks great! I’ve worn a similar one with my red jeans in the past too – I wore them with stripes often, it’s a classic combo with the denim jacket on top! I found I’ve been slowing my shopping so I can spend more time enjoying what I already have in my wardrobe – I often get ideas just standing and looking at it as I love being able to see it all in one place. My wardrobe room really is my happy place in this house, haha!
Hope that your week is going well! The flood waters have gone down here so we are no longer flooded in which is awesome 🙂

Same here! I really am having fun this week with my scarf outfits. It’s fun to come up with some new ideas.

That’s a lovely cross season outfit and looks great. I rarely take inspiration from others or copy outfits but can understand the reasons why it would be useful. We are heading into autumn down here so I need to sort out a few warmer clothing options.

I really like putting some of the off season clothes away so I feel like my closet is “new” when the seasons change and it helps me see what I may want to add.
