My French Inspired Outfits

I ordered a few items from Vivi et Margot a couple months ago and they inspired me to put together a few outfits that made me think of France. Even though I grew up in France and have visited a few times since then, I do not think that I am an expert about French fashion: I think of classy and classic when I think of French style, of stripes and white button downs but I think most people do not have a particular style unless they live in more metropolitan areas. At least that was my experience growing up there. Teenagers in my private school were all about brands but I was one of the few who wore hand me downs and things from the US so I was not trendy at all.

I picked this fun striped top at a market in the south of France in 2019. It is actually made in Italy but it makes me think of France so it made it for this French inspired outfit. I am wearing my grandmother’s pendant watch. After these pictures, I took it out of a drawer to hang it with my other necklaces so I can wear it more often.

A straw basket with a scarf, espadrille sandals are my other nods to France. I didn’t use my basket nearly enough last year so I will make a point to pairmit with outfits this summer!

The beret and basket were ordered for Vivi and Margot when they had a sale early spring. I am hoping to use this basket for picnics, as a prop for pictures and as storage in my closet when I am not using it otherwise. It is really different with its rectangular shape.

As an aside I actually am fitting in these XCVI pants I couldn’t fit in last month: going to have to watch what I eat so I can continue fitting it them!

Before I met my husband, I went to church with his uncles and aunts. His uncle still call me Frenchie to this day. Nowadays my French accent is not as pronounced as it used to be though. I have lived in the US for almost 30 years!

Why did I not think of picking up a pair of authentic espadrilles when I was in Spain and France in 2019? I do not know! Maybe I should have my best friend send me a pair for Christmas! I picked up this fun orange pair at DSW last year or the year before that. I like that they are flat. Paired them with thrifted cropped jeans and a pretty blouse from Target.

A bientôt!
