Coolidge Park, Chattanooga
When I met up my friend Rachel (My Faux French Girl) in Chattanooga at the end of July, I couldn’t believe I had never taken the time to go to Coolidge Park while visiting the city. We met up and park (for a very low $2) on the street and let the boys enjoy the fountains before eating a picnic lunch.
My boys, ages 4, 8, and 11 had a ball! They didn’t want to come out of the fountains and asked to come back when possible. I am not sure we will find the time before the fountains close for fall but if nothing else we will come back next May. I also had forgotten about the area near the park which boasts shops and restaurants.
The fountain is surrounded by 6 large animals that spray water at certain times of the day but we didn’t see that. The animals were great backdrops for pictures though!
It was fun to catch up with my friend while the boys entertained themselves. If I had not forgotten the balls and airplanes I had planned to bring we would have taken advantage of the green lawn to play too. I think this would be a wonderful spot for a picnic in the fall.
We could do a short overnight trip (Chattanooga can be done in a day at only 1 1/2 hours from home but my brother also lives here so we could meet him for dinner. Here I am planning more things for the fall and I am not sure how much will fit in: the boys are involved in sports which will take some of our Saturday excursion opportunities away.
On this particular morning, we enjoyed a ride on the carousel after our lunch and concluded with ice cream. The carousel was really nice and inexpensive as well at only $1 per person. I was impressed!
Nice, large bathrooms are conveniently located near the fountains and carousel: well done, Chattanooga!
A bientĂ´t!
