Summer Shop my Closet Outfit Recap
Nothing like feeling a little broke to help you stick to your guns and shop your closet for a month or so. I will be truthful and let you know that I did use a money gift from my mom in law to pick up several things for my anniversary trip in July during my no shop month of June. She specifically gives me such a gift once and a while for the purpose of me buying myself something. She lives with us and I take care of her shopping. I was tempted to add to cart a couple of times on my dime (one $15 skirt at Walmart called my name) but knowing that we had a lot of summer expenses with small vacations, boys camps and back to school, I restrained myself. I actually really did enjoy the challenge and came up with some very cute outfits in my opinion. I am sharing some of my favorites with you today. I did not attempt a no shop in August but am trying to show some restraint now that boys are back in school and I have more time on my hands.
Skirts
I have reached for maxi skirts and tried to pull out some I tend to forget. Wearing the least worn helped me decide whether they still deserved a space in my closet. That first one… Still in love since I bought it at the beginning of summer! And I forgot how comfortable that blue striped one little skirt was.
Shorts and skorts
Sometimes I pick a top to start an outfit. One of the weeks in July, I decided to choose tops I hadn’t worn as much but knew I loved.
Shorts haven’t been my top choices this summer but I still wear them as I like the variety they bring and yes, if I am not outdoors or in the car they work quite well.
Pants
Oh, this striped jumpsuit! You have seen it earlier this month with white in this post and since then I have been wearing it with different colorful tops! The fuschia top was such a great choice to get when I had $100 to spend on a giveway prize! I have worn it several times since I got it and it is really lightweight. The thrifted navy pants are so fun and comfortable and were perfect for the zoo.
I hadn’t worn these white leggings and these cropped pants in a while so I came up with some layered outfits in case I got hot. And my cropped jeans with the gold accent have been a favorite since I thrifted them a year or so ago. I believe I had never paired them with this top before.
Dresses
These 2 dresses have been around in my closet for a while, especially the black tank dress. I was inspired to wear it with sneakers by Cathie @Cathiescloset and then added a top for church. I love khaki and black together. The other dress, I tend to wear with white sneakers and is a faux wrap. I used my special fashion tape with it for the first time and I was much more comfortable with the neckline.
I really enjoy the tee over a dress combo in the 2 outfits below. It is very comfortable and gives a waist to my two little sleeveless dresses.

Loved seeing this round-up of shop your closet style inspiration! That first colorful maxi skirt is gorgeous. But even some of the simple outfits here really shine…the black skirt + khaki top + sneakers one is a winner. I’ve not thought of the top over dress for summer (I think of layering over a dress as a cold weather thing) but these outfits show how to do it well.

That skirt is definitely a keeper: I wore it yesterday with bright fuschia! I did like the neutral outfit too. Variety is quiet fun!

I love that white leggings outfit! But a maxi skirt is also a favourite. I wore my jumpsuit to cycle, perfect!

Me too! I cannot believe I hadn’t worn those leggings in months!

So many amazing looks here Mireille! I need to try the tee over dress trick.

Thanks, Kathrine! And yes the tee over the dress is very practical!

All those skirts are so cute on you, Mireille, and perfect for your long, hot summer days! I love that little blue striped one in particular! You certainly have a large range of clothing and styles from which to choose and it’s great you’re getting wear out of your wardrobe – that’s also my goal, although I don’t get out much.
Enjoy the rest of your week!

Thank you, Donna! I feel like I am always running out for an errand so I enjoy putting together different outfits.

Very impressive with wearing what you have Mireille. And I love that the fashion tape worked so well. Sometimes we get rid of things because they gape or are too low, yet there can be fixes for some of them.
I can’t even say a favorite, although I do love that bright pink top!!

I am so impressed with all of these looks and how they came from your own closet! I still absolutely adore that skirt from New Orleans (I think)! I can see you wearing that for many years to come!

You are right, it is my New Orleans skirt! And I wore it again last Sunday with bright fuschia!

Love this little retrospective of your summer outfits! You did a great job of using your creativity to shop your closet, you have a lot of well chosen mix and matchable pieces. Thanks for the inspiration, and have a good weekend!

You too! That is my main purpurse behind these posts: give inspiration and remind myself I have lots to wear!
Penny
Love the skirts especially the first one which is divine. And the black dress is really stylish and elegant. You have some lovely clothes 🙂

Thanks, Penny! I definitely have found some treasures the last couple of years and got rid of the non lovely clothes =)

I really like the outfit with the pink shorts. Shopping my closest is my norm, but I definitely don’t use a lot of it on the day-to-day basis. I tend to stick to the same shirts and pants, unless I’m going out to lunch/dinner. It’s on my list to work through the remaining part of the year.

I do have fun wearing it all even if only going to the grocery store!
Mica Away From The Blue
You have some really cute summer outfits there! it’s good you were able to give some pieces in your wardrobe more love as you didn’t buy a lot of new pieces to add to it. I’ve been doing a no-shop now for 5 months but I haven’t planned it – life has just been hectic this year with returning to work 5 days a week and the few times I have had a chance to shop I just haven’t seen anything that’s appealed to me. I have plently winter things already so I’m never interesed in buying more. I’ve been focusing more on buying christmas presents too when I get the chance, getting a start on that!
My mum did buy me a dress and some earrings when we went shopping together, so I have been having fun with those new things 🙂
Thank you for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you are having a good weekend.

I wish I had more self control more often. Looks like a busy week for me this week so I’ll probably won’t be anywhere a store!
