What to Wear to Costa Rica

How do you decide what to wear to Costa Rica? The first thing I did was look at the forecast which predicted 90%+ chance of rain every day since it is the end of the rainy season at the beginning of October. It turned out we didn’t see much rain but we did get good use of our rain jackets on our ATV ride where it rained for some of the way, the night jungle tour (it rained a good 10 minutes) and during our visit to La Paz Waterfalls and Gardens where it also rained and the spray of the waterfalls could get you pretty wet. The second thing I did was plan my outfits according to our activities, travel, outdoor activities and dinner.

Travel outfit

The airplane ride from Atlanta, GA to San Jose, Costa Rica is 3h30. I knew that we would also have a 3 hour car ride from the capital to our resort so I wanted to be confortable.

Comfortable shoes (wore these during our wet night jungle tour so I need to clean them), a tank and my denim shirt were perfect as I got alternatively cold and hot during our trip.

My only regret is that the leggings do not have pockets so on the plane ride home, I wore my joggers.

ATV tour

One of my favorite things to wear when traveling and involved in outdoor activities is my Zella cargo joggers as they dry quickly, have lots of pockets and are comfortable. Both my husband and I wore Keen watershoes (mine are kids size and quite old). Many of you have seen my second hand NWT fun tee before as it is a favorite on vacation. I wore my 2 piece bathing suit under (yes, I did jump in the waterfall) and we packed our rain jackets in a backpack.

Breakfast and walk on the beach

The 2nd bathing suit I packed was a TJMaxx clearance find. I love the color of this suit! I thought it really matched the infinity pool well (this is where we had breakfast the 2 mornings at the resort) and what you see in the background behind the pool is the Atlantic Ocean. An old thrifted cargo skirt was comfortable coverage.

Car Outfit

For the ride back to San Jose, I switched my bathing suit to a $3 clearanced halter top from TJMaxx and continued to wear my Lulemonn belt bag. I have no regrets being influenced to buy it: it was perfect for traveling!

We made several stops traveling back to San Jose (the coast is quite spectacular) and the skirt was not too constricting when we decide to explore the shore line and climb the rocks. This was so pretty that a whole post will be dedicated to it!

Dinner Time

I wore the top I wore on my 20th anniversary dinner for dinner simply with my cargo skirt. I did change from my Keens to a pair of black sandals. Sadly, while I had hoped to wear my dress from my birthday for my 2nd dinner, my husband didn’t feel well the last 24 hours and I ended up eating dinner in the room.

Doka Coffee Plantation Tour and La Paz Waterfalls and Gardens

This was the most interesting tour! You will read all about it and learn lots about the process! Joggers once again were perfect and we packed our rainjackets too.

A bientôt!
