ATV tour with Real Adventure

I wanted to book a couple of adventures while we were in Quepos and Tulemar Resort made that booking ridiculously easy! They have a list of possible tours with descriptions and prices and the concierge assigned to you on your stay books the tours for you. You pay for them before you check out. You can communicate with your concierge in the weeks prior to your stay to set this up and ask any questions. One of the tours we chose was the ATV tour with Real Adventure. We were picked up at the entrance of the resort in a little van which picked up a few other people on the way. It took less than 30 minutes to get to the site of our adventure. The cost of this tour was $140 total for the 2 of us and included transportation to the place as well as lunch.

The Quads

We (I) chose to ride double because I did not want to stress out about riding through the terrain and I was happy with my decision. We went through creeks, roads, and a palm plantation and the terrain was fair to what my husband would call fun. He loved going through the mud and potholes creating splashes and trying to accelerate when he could. There were certain rules so he couldn’t be too crazy but we sure had a lot of fun.

We couldn’t take pictures while riding for our safety so all of my pictures are at stop points. The 4 guides were very helpful and instructive and in the picture above we had to stop so they could fill a deep hole in the creek at one point where it the ATVs might have gotten stuck!

Pura Vida

We crossed the above bridge but took a break by the river to take pictures and this is where we learned an important phrase in Costa Rica called Pura Vida. Pura Vida translates into simple life and it is a way of life in Costa Rica. It is an emotion, an attitude, and is used in many instance to say hello, farewell, thank you or a compliment. Once we understand that we really got into it and my husband and I still use the phrase with each other. We really felt the meaning of Pura Vida on this trip.

The Waterfall

The culmination of the tour is this waterfall that we walked up to (just a couple minutes walk) and once we saw others jump in, we did too! When in Costa Rica…

We laughed so hard at the strength of the water and I am thankful for one of the young ladies who took pictures and even a short video of us. It had rained on the last part of the ride so we went from our rain jackets to our bathing suits which we wore under our clothes.

The waterfall is the turn aroud point (there was another one we had passed and where we took pictures with our quads on the way back) and our guides had us stop a little further too so we could take pictures of the awesome view.

The views

Costa Rica is really green! As soon as you get out of the capital, you get the impression of wildness and of how green and beautiful this country is. Despite it being the end of the rainy season and the forecast showing 99% change of rain every day, we had some amazing weather. It rains the first day we were there, we encountered some rain near the waterfall/mountain and then we got a nice long 10 minute rain storm during our night jungle tour which you will read about next week!
