Button Down Sweater Dress 3 Ways
This year I am hoping to focus on sharing different ways to wear items new and old because we are more likely to be content with what we have when we realize how versatile our wardrobe can be. This would be a newer piece in my closet, I think I picked this Sweater Button Down Dress up the first week of December at Target and sadly it was not on sale. I justified paying full price for it because it is actually of great quality and can be worn so many ways. Today I am just sharing 3 different ways you could wear it, but I can also envision it with tall black or tan boots, with some prints layered under or printed shoes as well as dressing it down as a dress and sneakers. I could also change up the accessories, wear a hat or try different cuts of jeans with it.
Dress as a Long Cardigan
This is the first outfit I wore with the sweater dress. It is really soft and I really like the length: I have tried other long cardigans that hit me higher on the leg which didn’t give me a flattering line. I repeated the tan in the sneakers and wore a pair of earrings made by a local lady who makes earrings from vintage fabric.
I am looking forward to wearing it with jeans too! I think I will probably wear this the most as a cardigan but it does look cute as a dress.
Sweater Dress and Red Accents
My little reindeer match quite well with my outfit! I am wearing another pair of earrings from the same small business and love how these are perfect during Christmas season but will be fun for all of the patriotic holidays too. I usually wear this star necklace in the summer but it fit the neckline of the dress perfectly.
Probably the pair of booties I reach the most, my embroidered booties from IdeasValyen were actually an impulse buy when I visited her booth in Lilburn, GA back in the summer. I love them as they bring so much interest with that pop of color.
Loose Sweater Dress
While I wore the dress with booties in this picture, I think I would like this look with a more relaxed vibe with sneakers.
It was another cold and rainy day when we took these pictures. I was actually planning to take them near the woods in the cul de sac, but it started drizzling and picking up wind as soon as we walked out the door. But my son was willing to take pictures (when you are a teen and you don’t have a job, taking blog pictures can help!) so we forged ahead.
So, no regrets! I really do love this sweater dress and I expect to wear it well into spring.
A bientĂ´t!

I do love these looks; using it like a long cardigan is a wonderful idea.

I love it best that way!

Gosh, you definitely styled this great all three ways. Now you should see if you could layer another dress over it? That would be a fun experiment.

Definitely an experiment: would this dress be too thick?

I think, even though you paid full price, you definitely made a good purchase! You look fabulous in this sweater as a cardigan and as a dress. I think I like the last look best because it looks most comfortable. The scarf around your neck adds just that punch of color! Love those colorful booties!!

Love how you styled this new dress! My fave look is with the red accents. I love the contrast of the two shades!

Yes! I could layer it over something colorful too: going to try to play around with it.

I’m a sweater + scarf fan, so the third look really clicked for me. But I definitely like it as a long cardigan too, and it looks great with color. I think it would look terrific as a cardigan over a column of color (including a bright color as you’ve done with the accents).

Yes, Sally, I was just thinking about that! Maybe I can come up with something like that for tomorrow!

Ohh, I just love the first outfit, because I know I’d wear it a lot… and, the second outfit would be so great for church or just going out with friends. I love how it matches your front entrance to your home too with all the neutral shades! Ha!

Yes, wearing a different version of that today with printed pants and neutral shoes. Need to take a pic!

Would never ever have guessed that was a dress in the first photos. It is such a great length and you styled it perfectly. Darling tan tennies by the way.
As a dress, I really like it loose with the scarf. Although the belted version shows off your cute figure!! What a versatile piece. I think even though you paid full price, you got your money’s worth.
I have tunnel vision with clothes in my closet. I pair things one way and can’t seem to think beyond that pairing. Jodie is so good at wearing items in unique ways to give them more versatility. You gals need to rub off on me.

I am trying to make sure I can see something worn several ways when I buy it. Even if casual, can’t it be paired with a dressy piece and so forth!
Mica Away From The Blue
That is such a versatile dress! I love it worn as a duster and red looks so good with it! you know how to accessorise so well 🙂

Thank you! Today I am wearing it as a duster again (twice in one week) with camo, white and turquoise.

These outfits are so cute, Mireille! I love how you styled the dress. I think the first look is my favorite – so creative to wear it as a duster cardigan.
