Atlanta Botanical Gardens: Troll Exhibit
On a cold day last week, I met up with my friend and her daughter and we headed to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. It was chilly and hovered in the mid 40s that morning. I couldn’t remember which exhibit was happening and it was fun to realize that the trolls were out! I am excited to bring my boys during spring break.
The large trolls by Thomas Dambo (6 of them) are folklore inspired range from 15 feet tall to 25 feet wide. They are made of wood and reclaimed materials. The traveling exhibition will stay at the botanical gardens till September 17. I am curious if one will stay here as it seems that one or two pieces from each special exhibition has stayed at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.
This troll is carrying a net with birdhouses and is hanging them on trees around him. These are so fun!
I love this lady troll! She is recycling this car by planting in it! I love the attention to detail. Most of the structures are in one area of the gardens which is really nice if you are pressed for time and cannot visit the whole gardens. Since we have a membership we can return whenever we chose which does relieve us from pressure to see it all when we visit.
Is he sleeping? Or is he awake! This one is perfect to take pictures in front on him as he is approachable.
These structures are really inspiring me to do some fun projects with the boys this summer. Rock garden, here we come! Or maybe we will make something with wood or recycled items. I just think it would be fun for the boys to be creative.
This troll made some necklaces! It reminds me of macaroni necklaces which strangely enough, I don’t think my boys have ever made any.
Come back next week to see the Orchid Craze at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.
A bientôt!

What a fun exhibit, Mireille! Those trolls are so imaginative. I really do like the lady with her car! It reminds me of the houses around here that plant flowers in toilets and bathtubs in their front yards!
