What to Wear to a Rodeo

Summer time is a time for laid back schedules for us and a time to do a few fun activities. One thing we decided to do was to go the the local rodeo and of course, being a lifestyle blogger with an emphasis on budget friendly fashion, I thought right away about what I would wear by shopping my closet.

When I purchased this dress in the clearance section at TJMaxx in the middle of winter, I knew right away that it would look cute with a denim jacket and my cowboy boots. Since it is summer and summer in Georgia is adverse to layers, I chose to wear my boots but no jacket.

The dress can be worn on and off the shoulder but so far, I have only wore it on the shoulders. Thankfully, it stays put and I do not need to adjust it. I thought my bag with the cowhide would be perfect and would hold all the necessities including a pair of noise canceling headphone for one of my boys who does not enjoy loud music and noise.

I shared the advantage of having a pair of white biker shorts in a recent blog post and added them under my dress so I would be comfortable and not worry about the length of the dress. I barely wear my Nickel and Suede earrings anymore but they sometimes are perfect for accessorizing an outfit. My yellow ones matched my dress perfectly. I also found my 2 large cuffs after misplacing them for at least a year (they were hanging on my closet doorknob in a pouch) and the blue beaded one is a nice arm statement also matching the dress.

I am not always one for florals, but this might be my favorite flower print in my closet. It combines two of my favorite colors (well a lot of colors are my favorite!). This pair of sunglasses replaced the cheap pair I had to return at Aldi and they have become a favorite too.

I cannot believe I barely wore these Western boots the first few years I bought them. I love them! I don’t wear them as often in the warmer months but I sure was glad to have an occasion to take them out for a spin.

Budget breakdown of this outfit:

Earrings: B1G1 Nickel and Suede sale about 6 years ago (about $12-15 I think)

Cuff: clearance find (Francescas?) for about $3 about 8 years ago

Dress: $8 TjMaxx

Sunglasses: TjMaxx, $12.99

Boots: $150 bought with birthday money about 10-12 years ago

A bientĂ´t!
