Maxi skirt as a Dress: Tropical Summer
When I shared this tropical maxi skirt in June (read post here), Jodie (Jtouchofstyle) suggested wearing it as a dress. I thought that would be a great way to wear it a second time to church, and knew right away what I would pair with it. Since I was wearing it to church, I would need something to cover my arms without making me too hot. I would also be standing since I sing in the choir so comfortable sandals were essential.
I only have one short sleeve blazer and I will say, it really is the most practical blazer I have. It allows me to wear a structured layer over sleeveless or halter dresses for church while having more structure than a kimono would have. It is cooler than anything long sleeves and because it is tan, it goes with everything, I really could use short sleeve blazers in other colors, but I haven’t come across any (not that I have searched for any). This one is probably 8 to 10 years old.
I wore the same thrifted belt I wore in my original outfit since it matched my sandals and I like the contrast with the print. Wearing a belt defines my waist and reduces the volume of this maxi skirt. I wore red accessories even though the color is not technically found in the print. It is a nice contrast and stands out.
My mom purchased the snakeskin clutch when she lived in Africa in the 70s and gave it to me recently. I am glad that I can give it another life. I can’t believe it is more than 50 years old!
It was pretty funny taking these pictures since this road here can get busy and I was feeling a little overdressed taking pictures in the middle of the week in my pretty skirt/dress. Yes, even after 4+ years of blogging, I still get embarassed sometimes when we take pictures.
It sure is fun to come up with new ways to wear my clothes. Here are a few other instances when I wore a skirt as a dress. I do not have the orange skirt anymore but still have the floral one.
Wow, it took me a while to find the picture with the floral skirt as a dress! One of the inconvenience of blogging is that you take so many pictures and sometimes even if you use the right keyword in the search button on the blog, the right/expected posts do not always come up! Now I realize I will need to try this with my brown leopard maxi skirt. A white wide belt would be perfect with it: going to have to thrift one soon!
Now to link up for the Sunday Showcase!

That is so neat that you used this maxi skirt as a dress, it looks beautiful!! I absolutely love the little jacket you paired it with, and the sandals are so pretty too.

Thank you! That little jacket really comes in handy.

You knocked this out of the park Mireille!! And I love that blazer with it. I only have a couple of short sleeve jackets too, but that’s something that could always be altered from a long sleeve one,

She has lived all over the world so she has some really cool pieces.

Ha, I still get embarrassed taking photos too! And I know, it’s impossible to find pictures sometimes. In my cost per wear spreadsheet I also record which blog post I wore the item in last, but that only helps so much.
You look so stinking cute in this outfit!! I love everything about it and the belt looks amazing with that tropical print. Love.
