The Many Faces of Arenal Volcano
When choosing a place for us to stay near Arenal Volcano, it was very difficult to make a decision: all resorts have incredible views of the volcano and most had great reviews. I ended up choosing this particular resort, Arenal Spring Resort and Spa because of the pictures of the pools. This vacation was definitely not a budget friendly vacation (accomodations and food sure added up) but we were able to save some money only having to purchase one plane ticket (+ taxes for the other 5) thanks to Delta Sky Miles.
Picture perfect: I told my family this picture is like a postcard: what a great spot to put the sign and souvenir picture (it’s next to the resort reception area).
All of the rooms/dwellings face the volcano so when you get up in the morning, you will be able to observe the beauty of the volcano. The volcano views are never the same as the cloud covering changes constantly.
This might be one of my favorite pictures of the volcano! My son and husband also took a beautiful sunset picture but they still have not sent it to me.
The volcano peeks behind every thing and is very picturesque. What I didn’t realize until we visited a trail area at Arenal Observatory Lodge and Trails was that the volcano while dormant still releases gases. That is not a little cloud below!
The most recent eruption was in 2010. The volcano is currently in its first period of dormancy since 1968. The different volcanic activities between 1968 and 2010 included explosive activity, slow lava flows, lava avalanches and strombolian eruptions.
The views from this lodge were really interesting as this is the side where the lava had flowed as you can tell by the lack of vegetation/trees growing on its sides. I will be sharing more about this great place to hike and visit in an upcoming post!
A bientôt!

What incredible views of the volcano from your resort. You could just sit by the pool and take it all in. x

Exactly, and that’s what we did in the afternoons.

I loved seeing Arenal volcano from our balcony of where we stayed. They told us that is was hard to see sometimes. The first day we got there we had the clearest view with just a small puff of smoke. Love all your photos!
