Festive but Non Traditional Outfits for December
I like to dress up a little in December, with sparkle, texture and fun outfits, but I usually don’t want to wear a traditional red or green Christmas-y outfit. Today, I am sharing some of my favorites this month. Some outfits are more casual than others, but I have really enjoyed coming up with my outfits this month.
Blue
Teal or turquoise rank are at the top of my favorite colors. So I made sure to pull out my two bright sweaters this month.
I wore my lace Halftee (code MIREILLE20) under my thrifted sweater tunic. I love the length of this top since it allows me to wear my leggings comfortable in a dressier manner. I have had the 2nd long tunic sweater (from Amazon) for several years. Again, I love the color. I wore it with my Clara SunWoo (MIREILLE10) liquid leather pants (gifted a bit ago) and a pair of Vivaia boots I won in a giveaway. This was a date night outfit and the pants were approved by hubby and kids!
Whether blanket scarves are out of style or not, I still wear mine. I love the plaid in this one and pulled out 2 pieces I hadn’t worn in quite a long time: thrifted jeans (WHBM) and an Amazon sweater that is a couple years ago.
Red or Green
It’s Christmas parade time! This was a long busy day as we stopped by a party before the parade and boys were busy at school.
This white sweater from a couple years ago is cozy and it was perfect as the weather got colder as the sun went down.
I received several compliments on my outfit as I waited for my son to run his 5K. The newest purchase was the cropped puffer vest from TJMaxx. I had been wanting one but didn’t want to order one online. Everything else has been in my closet for several years on repeat.
As I wrote this post, I realized that even though I have never had luck with Amazon dresses, I have several sweaters that have been successful buys: this is another one. I like the off the shoulder look which makes it fun to wear.
Purple = Festive
I think any color can be festive! I had been itching to wear this dress again after I wore it to my son’s induction in the National Honor Society (he is a high school senior). On this day, I left the tie really loose to give the dress extra length for church. A clearance buy at Cato’s fashion: I absolutely love the color and with layers, it can be worn year round! The accessories dress it up a little and I finally picked up a pair of those Amazon fleece lined tights on sale: they are awesome!
This second outfit is a repeat outfit from last year: the combo is fun and cozy. Dress was a hand me down several years ago and that fun little jacket a find at Ross Dress for Less.
Neutrals for Winter
I bought a couple new sweaters this month! I am loving soft textures and this first one from Target is so soft! I did add my red peacoat to go to the high school concert (see picture above).
I received a $20 reward giftcard after buying some items for my son’s room and decided to use it on a sweater. I bought the sweater in L as they only had that and XL in store and I liked the fit. I think it will look really pretty with my velvet skirt too.
This fun sweater with the pearls and cutouts was on clearance at Cato’s Fashion: I tell you, that store has been a winner for me this fall! I spent the last of my fun money on it and the scarf. So cozy! I did buy it oversized in large so I could wear it with leggings if I wanted to. This might have been my favorite outfit of all!
It’s funny, I look at these pictures and realize I am ready for a trim. I had planned to schedule one in November before vacation, but decided to wait, but now I am ready! Haircut got scheduled!
A bientôt!

A lot of great options here, Mireille. I love the two bright blue tunic sweaters with the slouchy roll-over collars. They look great with black and do have a non-traditional but festive feel. The cropped puffer vest is really cute! The leopard shoes really made that outfit come together.

I just love how you vary your outfits and make them work for the day. The lace halftee under the blue sweater is one of my favorites.

I absolutely love the non-traditional festive outfits! The blue hues bring such a refreshing and elegant touch to the holiday season. The lace Halftee adds a lovely detail to the ensemble. Those Clara SunWoo liquid leather pants are a standout piece, and paired with the Vivaia boots, it’s a perfect combination of style and comfort.
