Cargo Maxi Skirt and Denim for the Sunday Showcase
I went into Kohls last month to look for a crochet top, but left with a maxi cargo skirt and a pair of sandals! I was actually influenced by a styled mannequin which is a new one for me. I love my olive pants and joggers (I also have an olive skort), and when I saw this maxi with the slits on the side and the cute sandals, I knew I had to try them on.
Sadly, the skirt was not on sale, but I did receive a 10% off my purchase when I checked out. I usually do not buy anything not marked down to a certain point at Kohls, but I really liked how this skirt fit. I also knew I could style it many ways and that I would probably want to pack it for our summer travels.
Of course, when I wrote this post, this olive cargo skirt is on sale for $31 which I think is a nice price for it. It is in Junior sizing and since they only had size 5 and 9 in store (I would usually wear size 7 in Juniors), I ended up with the size 9. The sizing is inclusive and goes up to size 17 Juniors.
I couldn’t resist the sandals as they look good with the cargo cropped pants I was wearing and I know I can wear them 3 seasons out of 4 here in Georgia. I came home and put two pairs of high uncomfortable sandals in my donation pile! Neither had been worn more than once last year, one pair being for the Payless days!
My tank bodysuit, Kut from the Kloth jacket and tote (and earrings) were all shopped from my closet. I have worn each over and over again, they are staple spring pieces and easy to combine with everything else.
When I buy something new, I usually look for versatility and durability (unless it is a date night top). How many ways can I wear it, how many seasons will I be able to wear it, will it tear or snag easily? I do find that solid items can be worn many more ways, but printed skirts, dresses and tops do have their place in my closet too.
I love these two new pieces: no regrets!

It’s great that you found a versatile olive cargo skirt that fits well, even if it wasn’t on sale! Plus, receiving a 10% discount is always a nice bonus. Pairing it with sandals that complement your wardrobe and can be worn across multiple seasons shows a smart approach to shopping. Shopping from your closet for staples like the tank bodysuit, jacket, and tote is a sustainable way to mix and match your new pieces. Here’s to finding pieces that bring joy and no regrets! Olive is such a versatile color and with such a nice fit, I understand grabbing the skirt while you could. I agree you’ll find great ways to style it all spring, summer, and fall.
