Shopping and Fun with Friends – Arizona Edition
What a wonderful weekend in Sun City, Arizona! My weekend with Jodie was just what the doctor ordered. The last 6 months have been interesting to say the least for our household with some adjustment to what is expected of me, and it was time for a break from routine and taking care of everyone, so I could recharge. And recharge I did. All this thanks to being made welcome by Jodie and Rob. Here is a short little look into our weekend and what we did.
When I arrived in Phoenix, I was surprised how chilly it was even though I knew that the weather was going to be comparable to the weather in Georgia. But it was windy and felt a little cooler than I expected. Thankfully I had packed a sweatshirt for the trip. After having lunch and relaxing, we headed to the Desert Botanical Gardens to take blog pictures and have dinner. We had forgotten about the Final Four taking place in Phoenix and had to deal with some traffic: I hope Jodie and Rob didn’t think I was high maintenance: the car rides that day made me nauseated. It probably was due to being pretty tired and the 3 hour time change. Thankfully, I didn’t get sick!
Rob is a foodie, and Jodie and him take good care of themselves through what they eat and what they do! I enjoyed delicious breakfasts! Here are the morning fruit bowls: one is over sweet potato mash. The “brew” is a superfood drink and I was very surprised at how good it tasted.
I borrowed leggings and a sweater from Jodie: I didn’t think ahead to having to try clothes on over mine while thrifting and it was a little chilly in the morning, so the cardigan was easy to take on and off. We took Cathie along with us which I knew through IG. We visited 3 thrift store and Just Be YouTiful boutique (where I spent the majority of my spending money). We had fun. I will say though that it is really funny to shop with someone with similar taste and size as me: I was a little jealous of some of Jodie’s finds! But I found some great pieces myself and will be sharing them soon on the blog as I wear them in real life.
This was my suitcase after I had already put the majority of my finds in my packing cubes. On the right are my traveling clothes while on the left were my workout clothes which I was going to wear for a morning walk. I bought 3 tops, a pair of jeans, 2 purses, a metal coffee sign, a summer hat, a cardigan, a jacket, a tulle overlay, a skirt, some jewelry and I might have forgotten to list a few things!
A close up of my suitcase before I zipped it (I didn’t even have to expand it) and my traveling bag: I am so glad I brought this tote: it was perfect for putting the summer straw hat in it! We took more blog pictures the second evening before dinner (what a delicious spot — you need to try Pita Jungle if you are in Arizona)!
We went on a walk in the neighborhood that morning where I saw many rabbits once again. I will be sharing some pictures of my walk and run in a post soon. I cannot get over how many different kinds of cacti there are.
A bientôt!

Cacti, thrifting, Jodie & Rob, and RABBITS – what a great weekend! 😀 I continue to be impressed (amazed, really) by your compact luggage, even after going shopping. Well done!

Lol! Yes to rabbits: they were so cute and everywhere.

What a great post, Mireille and how lovely to meet up with Jodie and Rob.
And I always take the wrong clothes with me when I pack for a short break. it’s very difficult to think you will be going into a different weather zone. I shall be packing in May for a week in Spain, fingers crossed I take the right clothes!

Hope you do well planning your clothes!

My husband and I have family members who live in the Phoenix suburbs so we heard their weather has been unusually windy/rainy/cool lately –probably from the Pacific storms that have brought is much snow in Colorado. It sounds like you had a wonderful time with your friends and made some good thrift finds, which is always exciting!

Definitely windy! It was a great weekend!

I hope we can make this an annual event. It really was a blast, and in my defense of the things I found, that straw tote wouldn’t have fit in your suitcase, hahahahaha.

I agree to making it a yearly event! And yes, it wouldn’t have fit plus I really wouldn’t use it that much.

You packed in a lot and it sounds like such a fun weekend! Can’t wait to see your thrifting finds!
