Tropical Dress for Celebrating
I have worn this dress a few times in the past, usually trying to tone it down a little for church since I do not live at the beach or a tropical destination. Here it is for my birthday blog post where I paired it with sneakers and a navy jacket and here I wore it on its own off the shoulder and on one shoulder. For this past Mother’s day, I wore it with a tan jacket and accessories and the restaurant we ate at had a beautiful mural that was perfect for pictures.
Here I am with my mom whose 79th birthday was 2 days later. We took my parents to a Cuban restaurant near church and had a delicious lunch.
I went in search of neutral pieces in my closet to tone the dress down: I love this dress but it is really colorful! Rattan earrings, tan bracelets and a tan belt did the job! I wore a pair of chunky heels so I would not trip as much on this long maxi dress. I have had the dress 2 years now.
When I think about it, it is pretty surprising that I had never had eaten here before. It is only 5 minutes from church, on the direct road home and the food was good! It is often busy, but we got a table for 8 within a few minutes. That is part of the reason we chose it on Mother’s day: my husband had been there several times and enjoyed the food, and it is not a fancy restaurant which meant less of a wait.
I have been loving wearing dresses this spring and summer. I don’t think I own a dress that I don’t like anymore: all of them are fun and if they are very simple, I can dress them up or accessorize them with layers and accessories. Many are thrifted, but this one was bought from a smaller online boutique.
These pictures reminded me why I bought this dress in the first place. I did bring it with me on my anniversary trip to Costa Rica but never wore it out to dinner because my husband got sick that last night!

What a colorful festive pair you are with your mother-happy belated birthday to her! Love this colorful dress on you, and what a great location to take pictures in front of the restaurant mural. I wear dresses a lot and have some from years ago-I am cycling through them and trying to remix them to breathe new life into them. Pairing this one with neutrals is a great styling idea. Thanks for sharing and have a good week!

Trying to do the same with my dresses and flowy pants the next couple of weeks!
