Summer Outfit for the Zoo
What do you wear for an outdoors summer outing? Anything that is comfortable and breathable: for me that is a skirt on the shorter side and a simple tee. I could have easily worn a tank top, but I am trying to make sure to wear everything in my closet, so I picked this thrifted Talbots skirt and a soft tee in a similar color scheme. I bought that tee before our trip to Costa Rica last year.
I went minimal with accessories with a turquoise ring and a little cross necklace I bought on our trip in Georgia. First time I wore sneakers since our trip and I decided to wear a matching white cap. The zoo is actually mostly shaded, so we were ok without sunscreen.
Since our trip to Europe, I am trying to be more conscious about money spent, so this trip to the zoo fit the bill. All the cost was the gas it took to get there and parking. Our family membership was expiring the following week, so it was the perfect time to go for a visit.
We brought our lunches, waters and Gatorade. Since the boys wanted Dipping Dots, they spent their own money on those. They had opportunities throughout the summer to earn money and they have used that money to buy books, Legos and treats. They also have saved some.
I’ve used this Amazon cooler backpack for many years now and it is still holding strong. I bought it summer 2020. It holds quite a lot which is nice for a family of 6.
It was a great day for the zoo: we arrived a little before 10:30 and there were still lots of parking spots which meant the zoo was not crowded. I do think the temperature was around 90 degrees with more than 50% humidity, but the shade made a difference. We also did take advantage of the different building with AC such as the reptile buildings and a couple other ones.
What is your favorite outdoor activity outfit?

I admire you for learning your boys to earn their money!
That’s a very pretty skirt, lovely colour.

Thanks, Nancy! The younger boys get lazy though because they don’t always want to earn more so then they don’t want to do any little jobs.

This is a super cute outfit for the zoo; the color is terrific. I basically look like a hot mess at the zoo so I just accept that the only way for my easily overheated self to handle it is to wear exercise gear and a baseball cap and not worry about how I look!

Lol! I do get to me a sweaty mess sometimes, but our zoo does have a lot of shade so that helps.

Perfect zoo look! I might have to recreate it when I visit my husband at the zoo. He works there now! (That does sounds kinda weird. Lol!)
