Bike Ride: A Taste of fall
We ended the month of August with a fun bike ride on the Silver Comet Trail. We had planned to rent a truck to carry all of our bikes, but it being Labor Day Weekend, they were all rented out. We were happy to manage to fit all five bikes in our 2 cars: the hubby had to empty his of all his work things, and put down his seats. My youngest had just learned how to ride his bike 2 and 1/2 weeks prior and we knew the trail was easy as it is flat and straight.
Ready for a fun adventure? One of the things I like about this section of the Silver Comet trail is that it is in the shade. We took our time and didn’t try to race and be in a hurry which is one of the reasons I think my youngest was able to keep up: we rode 16 miles in about 2 hours!
Even though it was hot, it felt so much cooler on the trail. Between the shade and the breeze from riding it felt great!
We had fun in the tunnel: we pretended to be in the rainforest and made all kinds of birds and monkey sounds. We had a biker comment on how noisy we were! It was great fun.
With children, you have to make sure to have snacks! I packed some waters, gatorade, Kielbasa and cheese cubes with some crackers. The protein was just the thing! No one complained about being hungry.
We took a few breaks to let everyone catch up and really just enjoyed the experience. It had been 2 years since we had come here.
Ever wondered what the webs in trees are? They are not spider webs but webs from fall webworms or Eastern tent caterpillars. They use to freak me out until I realized that no spiders lived in them. There were some large ones, but this one with the leaf was kind of pretty!
Look at those yellow leaves: it was a touch of fall to welcome us back to our car! I was excited. We had a great bike ride and are excited for many more.
A bientôt!

That looks like such a lovey bike ride! I’m impressed that a ride that long was pretty flat the whole way. That doesn’t exist up here; if you ride a bike you have got to be prepared for hills everywhere.

It was really nice. In the other direction, hills are present, lol!

I haven’t ridden a bike in so many years. I keep meaning to get one, but then something pops up, and I forget. Congrats to your youngest for mastering his bike as well as conquering this ride!

Thanks, he is really enjoying it and we are enjoying not having to pull him: it was heavy since I was the one usually with him in the bike stroller thing.

Such great scenery on your bike ride. It looks like a fun day and love how your earrings match the shorts.

I always like it with I can find a pair in my collection to coordinate especially if they work for an activity too.
