Brasstown Resort and Spa, Young Harris, GA

Anniversary trips… We had a number of years when the children were young when we did not make time to schedule  anniversary trips, but now that they are older, there hopefully won’t be a year without one. The boys are almost old enough to where the oldest at home will be able to supervise his brothers with a little help from neighbors. It is nice to have several neighbors in our cul-de-sac that are friends and would be able to check on them. For this year though, we dropped the 3 boys at some church friends’ house for 3 nights.

I knew we wanted to stay somewhat close by and since it was fall, the North Georgia mountains would be a perfect destination with an easy 2 hour drive. I looked at a couple resorts and spa as I wanted a location where there would be different activities offered as well as restaurant options. After choosing Brasstown Resort and Spa, I looked on Expedia for a better price and was able to book our room for $100 less a night.

The lodge area was very pretty and spacious. There was a wonderful lobby area with a large fire place and many sitting areas, a large porch area with the beautiful view above (same view at different times of the day) and 2 restaurants, one more upscale while the other was like a sports bar with pool and dartboard.

We ate at the restaurant twice and I ordered the same meal twice, it was so good. It was duck confit and was cooked to perfection! We ordered dessert each night and it was very tasty too.

 

I am green! I was so happy to beat my husband with the best bullseye as he was much better than me at playing pool. In his younger days, he actually used to shoot some pool in Birmingham with no other than Michael Jordan! Michael Jordan played with the Birmingham Barons for a season. He also met Shaquille O’Neal when he came to my husband’s carwash as he was interested in buying carwashes and that is another funny story as my husband did not recognize him!
