Ponce City Market in Atlanta and Meeting up with Kathrine
A couple weeks, ago, Kathrine reached out to see about meeting up while she was in Atlanta visiting her son. Since it was a short visit, we decided to meet around lunch time for a little midday snack and shopping. Her mom and sister were along on this trip and I got to meet both and we had a lovely visit. It is always fun to visit another fellow blogger especially when we have been reading each other’s blogs for a while. I always feel like small potatoes when comparing Instagram numbers to others, but when it comes to blogging I feel like I have developped some friendships through the internet and it is always a pleasure to meet these friends in real life. We both have sons in college (actually they both live a couple blocks from each other and go to colleges a few miles from each other) and our love of fashion and blogging is a connector. Kathrine is also a woman of faith and funny enough, our husbands share the name Michael!
We met at Ponce City Market which is about 1 hour from my house but less than 15 min from where my son lives. I had heard of this trendy shopping area, but never had gone. It is full of fun restaurants and boutiques and offers on site parking which is nice this close to downtown. The parking was very inexpensive which was great.
We got some treats from Saint Germain which gets its goodies from a bakery located in Buckhead. I did ask if the chefs/bakers were French and was reassured that they were. Their macaroons looked delightful, but I ended up with a slice of quiche which was quite good.
I kind of felt like a tourist in my own state. I live about 45 minutes north of Atlanta and since Atlanta traffic can be a pain, I don’t find myself too much in Atlanta now that my oldest has his car on campus and my youngest and I don’t go to the aquarium or zoo much. So it was fun to discover a new spot in town.
Of course, we took some pictures together to remember our visit. I am sure we will meet up again as Kathrine’s son is getting is graduate degree here. It is amazing how her whole family is musically talented. Not so with mine: some of us can sing, but I took 4 years of violin growing up in France and failed the 3rd year exam twice and got kicked out of the program! This was such a fun midday outing! Here’s to continue to make friendships through the blog and meeting some of these ladies in real life!
I had to take pictures of this tall bank on my way back to the interstate. The fall colors are making their appearance and I am thankful there are trees not just around Atlanta, but also in the city!
A bientôt!

It’s the best to meet the people we “talk” with on our blogs and social media. How fabulous!!!

It definitely is fun and it’s really cool how some friendships can develop over time.

Oh, how fun to meet another blogger! I have only met one, but I’d love to meet so many more! I didn’t know your husband’s name was Michael (mine is, too, though most think it’s Nigel…inside joke). This looks like a fun little shopping area, but i have to admit I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t know their big cities that well. Indianapolis is just a little overwhelming at times. I’m always glad when someone suggests going there…as long as they drive! The traffic goes every which way!

Atlanta traffic can be a little daunting, at one point the interstate has 7 lanes going one way and everyone is trying to change lanes, so after a while you learn to be on your toes!

Aww you two look so cute! And this market looks great.

It’s always nice being able to meet people you have known online for a while. I met a few members of my cat forum and always wished it could have been even more, but it’s a bit difficult internationally 😉
Looks like you had a fun day, that’s great!

Yes, internationally is always a little difficult. I do know one of the bloggers who went to the UK and was able to meet a fellow blogger there, that is pretty neat!

What a delight to meet up with a fellow blogger that you cummunicate with online IRL! It sounds like you had quite a bit in common other than fashion, and had a great afternoon together. The market looks like a lot of fun, too! Hope you have a great rest of the week and weekend!

Thanks, Di! It was a fun meet up!

I think one of the best things about blogging is the friendships we make with other bloggers over time. And I have even met with two bloggers (Jill from Grownupglamour and Gail from IsThisMutton) and am hoping to meet up with at least one more very soon.
This really is a blessing. One thing though, do you find it quite hard to explain to people who don’t blog as to why and how you can make friendships online?
Anyway, what a fascinating part of town you went to – it looked really vibrant and interesting. Glad you had a good time.

I really agree! My family doesn’t really get it, why I enjoy meeting other bloggers that I have only known online, but we have so much in common, it is a great basis for a real friendship! Since we read each other’s posts, and comment on them weekly if not more often, you start learning more about the person and get to know them on one level. Eventually when you meet and if you click as friends, then the friendship can deepen. I think it is like coworkers and other friendships, you can go from acquaintance friends to deeper friends.

First of all, I can’t believe you have a kid in college! I thought you had little kids, either that or we’ve known each other for so long they grew up and I missed it. How nice you got to meet up with Kathrine. I know what you mean about Atlanta, I just hate driving past it on the way to Florida. We’ve had so many nightmarish experiences there. I would like to go to their botanical gardens someday though.

Yes, my kids range from 8 to 19!
