Scarves: Inspiration for Winter to Spring
Jodie (from jtouchofstyle) reached out to me a couple of weeks ago suggesting a joint scarf challenge. Since I am always up for a clothes challenge, I readily agreed! Then it was time to get creative with scarves as I knew she would have all kinds of fun ways to wear her scarves and I didn’t want to just wear my scarves in the most obvious manner. Of course, you cannot always come up with something new and sometimes simplicity is just what you need as the first two outfit prove. Here is Jodie’s week recap: head to there to get some more inspiration!
Since our weather can change 30 degrees from morning to night or from day to day, you will see a wide variety of outfits with or without layers which should give you some inspiration wherever you live. If felt like spring on this day so I was excited to wear one of my favorite pairs of pants with a simple scarf. The scarf adds interest to the plain black top just like a necklace would.
I still have a couple of infinity scarves and I typically just wear them looped twice around my neck. Every so often I try something different but not on this day. The scarves adds an extra print to this outfit.
I thought it would be fun to wear a scarf like I would wear a shirttail and this was perfect for a day at the botanical gardens. The colors were a perfect match for an archway in the orchid pavilion and I fit right in with all of the pretty blooms. I chose a pair of earrings that tied in with the scarf and fun leopard sneakers for some fun print mixing.
I wanted to add a neck scarf to my belt loop but then I realized I had donated all of mine since I hadn’t been wearing them. Instead I used one of my church scarf in a contrasting color.
I will be copying this look with a black column and another scarf next week. It had been a while since I had transformed a scarf into a vest so I had to watch a You Tube video to remember how to knot a long rectangular scarf to create a vest.
This might have been my least favorite outfit of the week but I do like the concept of turning a scarf into a belt. I definitely would like it better looped through pants but I really was trying to share a variety of wearable outfits. I wore each of these in real life and not just for the purpose of a blog post.
There is still one more week of our challenge so I hope that some of you will join Jodie and I! Don’t forget to stop my Jodie’s post for more fun scarf action!
A bientôt!

So many fun ways to utilize scarves; I am definitely going to be looking into how to transform a scarf into a vest.

It’s pretty easy, I just always forget which ends to knot.

What a creative ideas! I really should try some of them, as I always wear my scarfs, when I wear one, the same way.

I often wear them the same way so this was a good challenge for me.

The scarf as shirt-tail looks spectacular – what a wonderful and interesting way to wear it!

I am going to have to try that again with another scarf! The contrast in color was pretty cool.

It was a fun challenge.

I love how much variety you showed this week Mireille. And your least favorite is my favorite. I was trying to figure out why. I think it’s because it really transforms the outfit.
But I just love how you came up with the shirttail thing. Talk about creative!!
And I think that’s why infinity scarves were so popular…they are easy to style. I have read that they are out of style, but I don’t care. I will still wear them!!
XOXO

I want to thank you for your posts. The creative way you use clothing and your vibrant style of dressing has inspired me to think outside my box.

Thank you! I am really going to try hard to see how long I can go right now without buying any clothes (I do want one or two pairs of colorful sandals) for as long as I can. So many thrifted things and other to wear. I just swapped the rest of my summer and spring things so a lot feels new.

These scarves look great with every outfit. It is the perfect aceesory and I have a silk scarf that I always reach for to add another chic element to my outfit. https://www.bauchlefashion.com/2023/03/spring-into-fashion-5-fashion-trends-to.html

Those are the ones I don’t have anymore, the silky square ones.

You gals are so clever. I love the shirttail scarf and the darling yellow hoodie. Super cute look with the church scarf hanging from your belt loop. Great way to add color and interest. And I had to do a double take on the leopard print scarf worn like a vest. Oh, my gosh!! So very clever. You have so many versatile looks. You can be feminine or edgy or somewhere in between. Just wow!!

Well the vest idea wasn’t mine. I had seen that a few years ago and I often forget about it. It’s a great way to use a long rectangular scarf.

I really like how that one turned out. I think that was a dollar section at Target find, years ago, as in at least 8 years ago.
Miri
Love the look when you styled your scarf as a belt. Really nice!
lots of love, Miri

These are all great ideas! I especially loved the scarf as a shirt tail. And while I know you said it wasn’t your favorite, I like the scarf as a belt outfit as my next favorite. Great post, Mireille!

Funny how several people like the scarf with the dress. I think I just didn’t like the picture vs the outfit itself.

It’s been fun especially that I haven’t worn my scarves much in the past two years.

I don’t often picture wearing a scarf any other way then around my neck so this is a really great post of out of the box ideas.
mimifce
It is! I do it the regular way most of the time, but it is fun to change it up!
