Thrifted Striped Dress
Today, I am sharing a simple thrifted dress I have enjoyed wearing the past couple of months. I have found myself reaching for dresses more this summer, so I have been browsing the dress section when I stop by the thrift store. Do I need more dresses in my closet? Probably not, but since I haven’t been reaching as much for some of mine, I decided to add a few. I finally realized that the dresses I have been thrifting have more of a relaxed fit and they have been either gauze, linen or a cotton blend.

When it is warm, wearing something that is looser on your body makes more sense. So I do think that once fall arrives, I will reach once again for my tried and true fitted or wrap dresses. It’s not that I do not like them anymore, it is just not the best season for them. Since I have been wearing more dresses lately, I have had friends ask if I am going somewhere special when I run my errands. No, it’s just a usual day in the life of someone who likes clothes!
I found some cream accessories in my closet to let the dress shine! I have worn this dress to church and on a week day and love the ease of wearing it. One and done! It does not have a brand label, so I am assuming it is from Amazon, but when I browsed the dress aisle, the feel of the fabric, the color and striped pattern caught my eye. While it does not have a fabric label either, it feels like a cotton blend.

With a busy week ahead, I have planned most of my outfits: I lay them out usually about 5 days ahead and make a few tweaks as necessary when I put them on. With a dress, usually there are no tweaks needed as I know how it will look. No time wasted in the morning.

Do you have any favorite dresses in your closet? I definitely have some that are on heavier rotations some years more than others. That is why I do not purge my closet, but occasionally edit it if something is worn out or has really moved out of the style that I enjoy wearing.
A bientôt!

This looks liks a perfect summer dress! The color is beautiful on you, and I love the square neckline and smocking on the bodice. It looks very cool and breezy for the season. I wear a lot of dresses, and feel the same about purging. I do not let go of a lot, because so many of my dresses are classic styles and never really go out of style. I do put some away some seasons, and bring others out into heavier rotation because I just feel they can be worked with better to look more modern. Thanks for sharing and hope you have a good week

My feelings, exactly! It took me a bit to realize why I liked certain dresses certain season, but now I understand, so it keeps me from regretting getting rid of certain things.

Why a lot of women think that a dress should be worn only on days you have something special is beyond me. Dresses are fabulous and I also love to wear them. You look fabulous!

Same here! I get so many compliments when I wear dresses to do my errands, like people are surprised to see someone wear a dress.

When it’s hot….these type of dresses just seem so smart. That’s why I’m always surprised more women aren’t wearing them (of course, I’m not…today, LOL)
Love, love, love it

True! But then there has been years when I have barely worn dresses in the summer.

What a fantastic thrift find! I love a good striped dress because it’s such a timeless piece, and you’ve styled it beautifully. The colorful accessories really brighten the look, and it proves that secondhand shopping can uncover some amazing treasures.

Oooh, a light blue pinstriped dress is about as essential as a white cotton dress for summer! I love the vertical stripes on this one. Those are hard to find and they are so good. This dress looks fantastic with some simple white acccesories. Your chunky bracelet is super cute, too! You gotta love a good thrift shop find! Beautiful, my friend.
