Centennial Park, Atlanta
During our staycation during Spring Break, the boys and I joined my college friend Staci and her family at Six Flags and the Georgia Aquarium. Before lunch, needing a little break and outside time, the boys and I walked around Centennial Park. I was surprised that I had not seen this area of the park before.
We really don’t go down to Atlanta very often as we often have to deal with traffic: a 45 minute drive can take 2 hours with the right (wrong) conditions! But when we do, we always enjoy our time downtown.
The iconic ferris wheel has been near Centennial Park since 2013. I actually have never been in it, but my oldest rode it on a school field trip. It looks really pretty with the fountains in front. I think these fountains are new because the pictures I remember taking there with my friend Veronique years back did not look like this.
If it hadn’t been so windy that day, this would have been a great spot for a picnic. I think we brought my brother here too once. This is really a pretty spot to bring visiting friends and family.
I have thought over and over that it would be fun to do some exploring of areas we haven’t visited. It is just a matter of finding time and having the right weather: it can be unpleasant if it is windy or too cold or rainy!
Do you ever play tourist in your town? Most activities in Atlanta are expensive, but it is possible to explore on foot and see pretty sight and not spend much.
A bientôt!

It is fun to be a tourist. Of course, traffic is such a huge factor, as you know when you were here, LOL

Traffic definitely can be a big factor!

That looks like a really pretty park. I have heard lots of stories of Atlanta traffic from family we have that lives there… I can not imagine having to deal with that!

Yes! No traffic is great but when it is there, it is just plain horrible!

I honestly haven’t because Indianapolis seems to be so congested. I know it probably isn’t, but I just haven’t done much exploring. It’s kind of intimidating!
I love that Centennial Park is still brandishing the Olympic theme. It seems like lots of the places that host the Olympics soon get rid of the stuff. Thanks for sharing these photos, Mireille!

That’s a good point about still keeping some of the Olympics things. There are at least several places around Atlanta that do have remains of it.

There is supposed to be an area with many murals and a trailway you can bike: one day, we will do that.

We love to visit places in our own country. And when we drive 2 hours we are halfway our country, lol.

Lol! Yes, most European countries are pretty small.

I am surprised I hadn’t been there since they updated it: we have gone to the aquarium many times and it’s right next to it.
