Trench Vest: Another Winter Neutral Palette Outfit

It took me a bit to come up with the title of this blog post. I hadn’t originally planned to take blog pictures of this outfit, but I really liked it and I thought that after sharing the trench vest as a dress last week, it would be fun to show you how I wear it most of the time. I have paired it with a variety of tops and pants, even skirt and over dresses, but this classic monochromatic combo is one of my favorites.

My friend Rachel whose book I shared last week gave me these fun mules. She had thrifted them, but decided that she really didn’t like slip-on shoes. While I usually agree, these were too fun to pass up and for some reason the pointy toe really appeals to me, and it doesn’t bother me that they are mules. Isn’t the dyed cow hide really pretty?

The day was actually quite cold (the temperature oscillated between the mid 20s to mid 40s), but the vest combined with the turtle neck sweater were pretty warm. I also added a tank under the sweater.

After preparing my post about wearing scarves earlier this month, I have found myself reaching for my winter ones over and over. I hope to continue that trend into the spring because I have many scarves to wear. I chose this one for the contrast with the tan and added some small turquoise earrings.

I love that I haven’t felt the desire or need to shop! I think that is because I have quite a few sweaters and jackets in my closet. I have always loved winter and fall, so I definitely am not lacking in that department. The couple hand me downs I received in the January felt like new purchases. I think this might be the year where I have worn most if not all of my fall/winter wardrobe. I know I wore this trench vest many more times this year than I had last year!

A bientôt!
