Dress over a Dress: Tulle and Shirt Dress

Now this was a fun outfit! All summer long, I have been going through my closet making sure I wear a little bit of everything and will pull out a piece to style and wear in a new way (or old way sometimes). I bought this tulle overlay dress a year ago (and wore it three times  on the blog), so I wanted to find another way to wear. Since I had worn it over a skirt (here), over jeans (here) and under a skirt (here), I wanted to try something else. I let it hang in the front of my closet for a few days, and then inspiration struck!

This shirt dress has been too tight for me for a few years, so I usually wear it as a long vest. Today, I am wearing it as a dress, but added a black Halftee (code MIREILLE20 for 20% off) and biker shorts for modesty. I did button a couple more buttons at the bottom for church.

I really like how much of the tulle overlay you can see with wearing the biker shorts under. A little bit of a fairy vibe! I wore my new flower sandals from Belk which bring me to 3 new pairs of sandals this year. I did throw out one pair and donate one this year.

I received several compliments at church and my outfit inspired a conversation about fashion and thrifting with a friend which inspired us to have a thrifting and lunch date that same week. We discussed how much of a mood booster clothes could be and how it was fun to find some interesting pieces when thrifting.

This summer has been laid back in some ways, but also pretty stressful in other ways. A fun outlet that doesn’t cost too much money like thrifting is fun and a pick-me-up.
