Statement Red Pants for Breezy Summer Style

Oh, my beloved red statement pants: you have seen these before (here with leopard) and I typically wear them with black as in my first picture for my travel outfit. I’ve also paired them with a grey tee and a navy graphic tee. They always get compliments and they are very comfortable in the summer heat.

After our last vacation wearing hiking clothes, I really wanted to wear some fun pieces on this vacation. I picked some things from my closet accordingly: colorful, flowy and fun pieces that would work together or solo.

We visited the New Orleans botanical gardens earlier that week which is located in the city park. The city park is a great area with lots to do: there are playgrounds, areas for picniquing, a Cafe du Monde, the Museum of Art and much more. There is also a sculpture attached to the Museum of Art and it is free (donations are appreciated).

I was impressed with the size of the sculpture garden. There was a scavenger hunt for the kids but we got so hot and tired that we only did about 3/4 of the hunt. We did see most of the garden and you can see some of the sculptures in this post.

This beautiful, colorful bridge was one of my favorites. Everyone wanted a picture here. Another favorite was that swirly mirror maze you see in the background.

I am matching the art in this picture! I am wearing a pair of cool domino earrings. I picked them up at the French Market downtown and they are fun and lightweight. These portray butterflies.

We love to read books so this is an appropriate spot for pictures: I think I read through 4 books during that vacation week. The boys signed up for the reading program at the library a couple weeks ago so they are little reading machines!

We really enjoyed this walk despite the heat and rewarded ourselves with a delicious lunch at the cafe at the Museum of Art: one of the docents at the sculpture garden recommended it and he was 100% correct. Lunch was tasty and well prepared. The teen and I had Provence paninis (veggies and goat cheese) and we split an order of truffle parmesan french fries. My husband’s shrimp poke bowl was also outstanding. So these two stops are definitely something you should add to your itinerary if you travel to New Orleans! Come back on Wednesday to see more of the sculpture garden!

A bientôt!
