My latest Amazon purchases
I always enjoying seeing what other purchase from Amazon. I sometimes buy what other bloggers have endorsed and sometimes those items work for me but not always. These are my purchases for April and May. Handmade Round Ata Bag (sold by Lmygo): I often see the same items sold by different companies and reviews differ so I usually try to buy the same as the person who blogged about it. Of course it is now out of stock so am linking this similar one (rattan bag) Safety 1st grow and Go 3 in 1 Convertible car seat As I was deciding which carseat to bring with us to France (we…

Packing for an international flight for kids
In less than a week, we will be traveling to Spain and France for a couple of weeks. Because our trip spans over 2 countries, it will probably be a lot warmer in Spain than the North of France so we have to be prepared for different weather scenarios. I hope that we will be able to spend a couple of hours at the beach in Spain’s Costa Brava so we are bringing our bathing suits. In keeping with my desire to be a light packer, each child’s oufits will be packed in packing cubes. I should be able to do laundry at the end of the first week so…

My thrift store May outing
Last week, I decided to head to Goodwill for a little shopping spree. My goal was to find some items to complete my wardrobe: printed pants, anything camo, skirt or dress and graphic tees. This is the only Goodwill and thrift store in town. Goodwill is actually not my favorite thrift store because I find it to be expensive so I made sure to be selective. Thankfully I was able to shop without any children which made the experience more enjoyable. I browsed down the aisles and picked up items that I found interesting. Sadly there were no camo! And sadly since I am not imposing a spending freeze till…

Blog update
So I have been writing this blog for 2 and 1/2 months now and wanted to share what I have learned and experienced so far. Writing I have truly enjoyed the writing process and coming up with post topics to share with my readers. I do like writing about our travels the most but we are not always on the go since we do have to save up for these trips. So I am learning to enjoy writing about other topics too. Fashion is probably the easiest to share about because I have always enjoyed clothes and buying them so taking pictures of what I typically wear or finding new…

What do you need to save for an international trip
Some international trips are more expensive than others. When we visit the republic of Georgia we have a lot less that we need to save for so when planning this trip to France I needed to take several things into account, the first one being that France is a lot more expensive than Georgia. Rental car Last time we visited France we were able to borrow our friend’s car. This time we are traveling from Spain to the North of France so we are renting a car for 2 weeks. I went online and searched car rentals and selected the cheapest one. I ended up paying almost a hundred dollars…

#thriftedchicstylechallenge outfits, May
This was my second time participating in the thriftedchicstylechallenge and it is always fun to create outfits from my thrift store finds. This was a shorter challenge so I have 3 outfits to share. And I would like to thank the ladies who host the challenge for choosing me as the winner of the May challenge! Outfit #1 I wasn’t sure about this tank top when I purchased it but I really like the material and the pattern. Turns out it is very comfortable and it can be worn with a variety of bottoms. This day I paired it with a thrifted pair of cropped wide leg jeans and my…

Spring and summer decor
About a month ago, my husband received a giftcard from a customer and I put that giftcard right to work. I headed to Ross and updated my non existent Spring decor. The first thing I wanted were some new throw pillows for the couch. I selected two gray ones that will work for other seasons and chose a large yellow throw pillow too. I had found another smaller yellow pillow on clearance at Walmart earlier that week so it was perfect! Next I needed a few things to add to the mantle and table behind the couch: I like the sunshiny color of these fake tulips and the little sign…

Weekend trip to Savannah
This past weekend, we had a short family getaway to Savannah, GA. Savannah is about a 4 1/2 hour drive from our house.I have traveled there with my husband and also some friends on different occasions for an overnight trip as well as day trips. This time we decided to have a mini vacation because we were going to be halfway there since my oldest was being recognized at a Duke Tip ceremony for his SAT scores as a 7th grader near Macon, GA. While this trip still was fun, because I had not planned it out as well as I usually do a trip (with ideas of where…

How to make budgeting work for you
Different families have different circumstances, budgets and priorities. While my husband works full time, my main job right now is to makes our household run smoothly, take care of our 4 children and stay on budget. In the past 10+ years since working full time, I have helped bring income in by working part time as a preschool teacher, babysat my old coworker and friend’s children and neighbor’s child and tutored Spanish. With a 18 month old, my focus has been to get him on a schedule and I will probably return to tutoring in the evenings this fall. While the following tips and ideas are not by any means…
