Styling Denim for Summer with the Ageless Style Link Up

Today’s outfit started with this cute pair of earrings which I received as part of a giveaway hosted by Scrub Studio Soaps and SG Sparkles. The set of honeycomb and bee mismatched earrings is so fun and made me think of my French striped top right away. I then thought of my denim skirt which fit perfectly for the today’s theme for the Ageless style link up so here is my denim for summer look! Since I do not wear jeans in the summer (it is too hot and humid for denim pants), I either wear my denim shorts or my denim skirts in the warm months. This denim skirt…

Summer fun: Visiting a House Museum

A few weeks ago, we didn’t feel like going to the pool, but it was hot and humid so we decided to visit this house near our library. I looked up the tour hours and we called ahead of time to make sure there would not be a group. Of course, I didn’t check the types of payments accepted and when we got there, I realized that it was cash only. I typically do not carry cash but the tour guide was nice enough to allow us to do the tour and I went to the bank right after to return with our payment. The house is called the Rose…

    Brindle Boutique Set, 2 ways

I always find it difficult to narrow down my choices and make a selection when I am doing a collaboration with a brand. Brindle Boutique kindly allowed me to choose an item for the end of summer to share with you all and I was so very tempted by the new fall looks. However, living here in Georgia, I knew it would be a couple more months before I could wear a cardigan (my 2nd choice) and while I was tempted by a pretty piece of jewelry, I wanted to choose something that I would get a lot of wear from. So I chose this pants/top set that also comes…

Clara SunWoo Wrap Top 4 Ways

I first shared this Clara SunWoo wrap top a few weeks ago, but I knew right away I wanted to show how versatile it could be. Today I am sharing 4 ways I have worn it (or plan to wear it) and these ideas of course can be translated to what you have in your closet with this or any other navy top. Two of the details I really like about this blouse are the cap sleeves and the asymetrical hem. Navy of course is considered a neutral so it really pairs well with different prints, textures and colors. With a Printed Skirt (or any skirt) I have always loved…

Honey Harvesting: Part 2 (it’s the fun part!)

Welcome to the most exciting part of my honey adventure. Last week, I shared some information about bee hives and frames. Today, I am sharing the process of slinging honey from the frames. Susie and her husband Phillip use a manual centrifuge machine and I got to use it too! But first how did we get the honey out of those capped frames? Remember the frames were covered with a layer of wax. Before putting a frame in the manual centrifuge machine, you must slice off the top layer of wax so the honey can come out. Using a sharp knife, Susie showed me how to do this and I…

Maxi skirt as a Dress: Tropical Summer

When I shared this tropical maxi skirt in June (read post here), Jodie (Jtouchofstyle) suggested wearing it as a dress. I thought that would be a great way to wear it a second time to church, and knew right away what I would pair with it. Since I was wearing it to church, I would need something to cover my arms without making me too hot. I would also be standing since I sing in the choir so comfortable sandals were essential. I only have one short sleeve blazer and I will say, it really is the most practical blazer I have. It allows me to wear a structured layer…

What to Wear to a Rodeo

Summer time is a time for laid back schedules for us and a time to do a few fun activities. One thing we decided to do was to go the the local rodeo and of course, being a lifestyle blogger with an emphasis on budget friendly fashion, I thought right away about what I would wear by shopping my closet. When I purchased this dress in the clearance section at TJMaxx in the middle of winter, I knew right away that it would look cute with a denim jacket and my cowboy boots. Since it is summer and summer in Georgia is adverse to layers, I chose to wear my…

Learning about Honey Harvesting Part one

Have you ever wondered how the honey gets on your breakfast table or in your tea? I had the privilege of visiting my running buddy, Susie at her home and learned about how her and her husband Phillip harvest the honey out of the hives and frames. Phillip is a 3rd generation bee keeper. All I knew about the process is that bees go in a beehive and make honey and we eat it, so I was excited to join her for an hour or so and learn as much as I could. I love to eat honey and have bought honey from her the past year or so and…

Trying Out a Future Travel Outfit: Linen Overalls

I haven’t been perfect with my no clothes shopping this summer and this pair of grey linen overalls was a purchase from Amazon when they went on sale. I had been tempted to buy a pair for probably 6 months and seeing them on sale had me itching to try them. When I put them on, I instantly knew that my idea to get them as a future plane travel outfit was a winner. They are fun to wear, comfortable while still being stylish (at least in my book). I wore them with a black tank and sandals (one of my two outfit ideas for the plane) to create a…

White Dress and Bensimon Sneakers at the Lavender Farm

I love how a white dress is a classic piece that you can style for different occasions. I have a shorter halter style one and this midi gauze one: I wear them both and have had them for several years. I thought this midi one would be perfect for a hot summer morning at the lavender farm. I was actually searching for a local blueberry or peach farm, and came across a lavender farm about 25 minutes from the house. I love lavender and it reminds me of summers in France. I did not live in Provence but a couple of hours away so I do remember trips where the…
