Afternoon adventure: Etowah Indian Mounds
This is not the first time that I share an outing to the Etowah Indian Mounds. After 6 weeks of walking around our neighborhood, I decided it was time to walk at the nearby state parks. Our neighbor told me that the mounds were open and that that while the building/museum was closed, this historical site was open to the public free of charge. We have been once or twice as a family but we usually walk at the state park because it is free apart from a minimal parking free while the Indian Mounds charges admission. So I told my boys we were going for a walk somewhere different,…

Pascha Basket 2020
Christ is Risen! Each year, the week prior to Pascha, I prepare different items to add to our Pascha Easter basket. Hop on over to last year’s post to see what our basket looked like (similar but different: I forgot which basket I had used then!). This year, the date of Pascha fell one week after western Easter. We typically add items we did not eat during lent in our baskets: meat, dairy and eggs. We do not gorge ourselves once lent is over but do enjoy these treats in moderation in the weeks following lent. Cheese Paskha I usually make cheese Paskha with a couple of my friends but…

Pascha Outfit: Modcloth skirt for the Win!
My floral Modcloth skirt is a fan favorite and also a favorite of mine. Here are the two post (here and here) where I have already featured it and I wanted to continue to show its versatility with new outtfit. I chose to wear this on Orthodox Easter (Pascha) this Sunday. I felt that is was a great way to celebrate the resurrection, with an outfit full of cheer and happiness with sunny colors and white! Of course, I had to take some pictures at my favorite bench as the spring background of new leaves makes for a pretty backdrop. This outfit is actually quite budget friendly coming to less…

You are Enough
Wednesday was a hard day. In order to avoid crowds at the grocery store, I changed my grocery day to Wednesday. I woke up with a slight headache. nothing too terrible but I know that if I don’t take anything, it will develop into a migraine. But since it wasn’t a migraine I didn’t want to take too much medicine. Because of that I ended up with that headache all day which influenced my feelings of accomplishment. It took me 2 hours including the drive to take care of the grocery shopping and gas, my 2 year old who is potty training right now had 2 accidents, it took me…

Leggings: Go2Socks vs Zella High Waisted
In the fall and winter, I have been wearing solely my Zella high waisted leggings when I want to wear leggings instead of jeans. I always wear a tunic or long sweater with them. A few months ago, Jodie from Jtouchofstyle recommended the Go2Socks compression leggings in a post (the link takes you to one of 3 posts on reviewing the leggings). With such a difference in price, I decided to go ahead and purchase a pair and put them to the test. Of course I took advantage of her discount code too! Zella High Waisted Leggings I paid full price for my pair of Zella leggings but they do…

What is my signature style?
After I read a couple blog posts about signature styles, I decided to think about what constitute my personal or signature style. I asked myself a couple of questions: what items do I add no matter my outfit? Which pieces of clothing do I reach for? Which things to I feel tempted to buy? What do I like most in my outfits? Here are my conclusions: Statement Earrings It is rare that you will see be out and about without a pair of statement earrings and most often than not, it will be a pair of Nickel and Suede earrings. It used to be that I would only wear studs…

2020 Budget Wins and Fails
Since we are 4 months into the year and I often try to share some of the budgeting tips that have worked for our family (search budget posts on the blog), I thought it would be helpful to share my budget wins and fails so far. It also helps me celebrate my wins or learn from my fails. January and February The first two months of the year would count as fails in my book even though I was still able to put money into savings. Of course having been able to save they are not total fails. However, my hope was to start the year with a small credit…

March in Review
I usually like to dedicate my Wednesdays post to travel or fun outings we have made as a family but since those are not happening at this time, I thought I would look back at March since there were a few happenings. 1 Year Blogiversary First came my blog 1st year anniversary. I was quite happy that people still continue to read my blog and that I am still having fun writing it. You can read my blogiversary posts here, here and here. I share my 3 favorite fashion posts, my 3 favorite travel posts and my giveaway wins from Instagram and blogs. My oldest son’s school award I was…

Green Maxi Skirt Outfits
I always find it interesting how you see a piece of clothing on a model, and you either like it or not, then you see in on a “real person” and you like it better and then you try it for yourself and you either do like it or not. It is definitely a hit and miss especially when you are shipping online and cannot try clothes till after you have paid for them. While I have not been successful much with finding dresses online that fit me well (I have had some good laughs with some things from Amazon), I was pretty successful with my skirts from SheIn (3…

March Favorites
I had a hard time coming up with favorites for March at first. It is not that my life is that much different now than before apart from being stuck at home a little more than before. I have been quite a homebody the past year or two unless we are on vacation but I had started to meet different friends once a week. I think it is more the uncertainty of when this will be over that gets to me. The children are doing well with their home schooling lessons and we really have enjoyed the outside time (minus the pollen) with walks and bike rides as well as…
