Share a recipe: Boston Butt
This is one of those recipes that is so simple but yet so delicious. Before getting married, I had never had Boston Butt and when my father in law lived with us for 6 month early on, he shared a couple of his simple but oh so tasty recipes. This is the Boston Butt at its best.
Ingredients:
- boston butt
- worcheshire sauce
- garlic salt
- tabasco sauce
- BBQ sauce
I usually buy my Boston Butts when they are on sale for 99c/lb at Kroger but sometimes Aldi sells boneless ones for $1.49 and it is sure worth getting a few then too for the ease of not having to take the bone off and burning your fingers. When they are on sale I try to buy at least 2 or 3 and put them in the freezer.
Steps:
- Be generous with worchesthire and rub it into the meat.
- Sprinkle all over with garlic salt and rub it in.
- sprinkle generously with tabasco and rub it in
Cook it fat up for 45 minutes a pound at 300 degrees or less (our oven is a little hot and this time we cooked it at 250 degrees). One hour before it is done, take the bone out and pour BBQ sauce all over it the meat and where the bone was. I sometimes pour the sauce when the meat is resting instead especially when having to deal with the bone.
We usually cut the meat in thin slices and serve it on onion buns, Vidalia onion (if in season or just regular onion) and mayo. It is delicious!
Hope you enjoy and try this recipe. I will try to make this a monthly Friday feature.
A bientĂ´t!

My son told me I should have added that it was a secret family recipe. Such an inexpensive meat too: Aldi had boneless ones this week for $1.79 which is still not bad.

Glad for the rain in Australia! Having some rain here too then cooler weather. A few more occasions for sweaters and jackets.

It sounds wonderful (not sure I’ve ever heard of Boston Butt) and it’s such an easy recipe! I’m definitely pinning this one so I can find it later – after I’ve had a chance to check out the store for Boston Butt (it’s just fun saying that). Thank you so much for sharing this!

I will have to share some other of my easy recipes: I really don’t make anything complicated and this one is pretty much as easy as it goes. And a crowd pleaser!
