August Favorites
My favorite this month are experiences! It makes me feel good that we are spending time together and having fun!
Day Date with my Hubby
The last couple of weeks, my husband and I have been able to escape for an hour or so without the children and enjoy some time together. It might look like an trip to Home Depot or a hike up a mountain. We are planning a trip to a winery this weekend for our anniversary if weather permits. I will stop by the French bakery and pick up some croissants and pains au chocolat for breakfast, a baguette to make sandwiches for lunch and my favorite white chocolate raspberry pound cake for a weekend dessert. I think I might need to make sure not to skip any runs next week.
Weekly Runs and Walks
I can’t say it enough: I am loving my runs and walks. I only run 2 miles 3 times a week and walk 4-5 days for 45 minutes. I feel so good when I do that I try to not take more than a day off. I love the scenery in the am on my way to my runs. The sunrises, the fog, it is so pretty.
Bread Making
It had been too long since my last time baking bread! I hope to make one a week at least! I have yeast, I have flour, I can make bread! This crusty loaf was delicious!
Our New Pergola
We hired our neighbor to build us a pergola and are so pleased with it! It makes our outdoor space so special! We added lights, but I do need to spray paint my furniture (we eventually will get something larger since this is a 4 chair set and there are 6 of us) and pressure wash the concrete.
Kite Flying
I bought some kites in the clearance section at Kroger a few weeks ago and we pulled them out this week. We usually have a lot of wind in our yard so I had high hopes. All the boys from the littlest to the oldest loved flying them and will need more practice as well as mommy and daddy. It was a lot of fun!

Thanks, Kathrine. I am hoping it doesn’t rain in the afternoon tomorrow. The forecast is not too promising!

That crust turned out beautifully! And I’m so jealous of your hike, what a view. I haven’t been able to run at all during pregnancy, but I’ve definitely been loving my walks, too. I’m not comfortable going on them in NYC, because of population density and covid, but I was at my mom’s in the country for a few weeks and it was so nice to take a stroll in the mornings and watch the world wake up!

I didn’t run when pregnant but tried to walk. I definitely wouldn’t do it in the city though. Glad you go to go to your mom’s! The key for the crust is the heat of the oven: that break bakes at 460.

Beautiful photos!! Your little anniversary getaway sounds so nice, I hope it’s a blast. And I love flying kites! I only just discovered it this summer but it’s SO fun.

I hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow! Yes, this is only the 2nd time we bought kites and it sure is fun. I think it will be great in the fall when it cools off!

That bread looks so tasty, I don’t think there’s anything better than the aroma of freshly baked bread. I did start to dream of adding a knob of butter and strawberry jam, along with a cup of tea. I too have started to walk/trot since April, at least 5 times a week for around 45 mins. I agree with you, being outdoors, seeing nature is so good for us. I love it, plus it’s “me time”.

Me time is a must for me in this household!
