Inspired by Andrea at Living on Cloud Nine

I am not sure how long I have followed Andrea’s blog regularly but I would say probably a year or two. Since I have been regular on Instagram, I have really enjoyed seeing her in action in her stories and love her bubbly nature. Her style is feminine but also practical and her #walkand talk stories are fun and intereactive with polls about all kinds of subjects! Her fashion sense often inspires me (I have bought a few things after seeing her feature them and I am even shopping her closet for fall:she will be sharing more in her Insta stories next week: so many cute things to grab!). Now I will have to watch myself while reading her blog and following along her shopping adventures the next few months as I really want to exercise control over my personal spending.

Today I want to create two looks inspired by two side by side looks she shared, a now and later using a color block cardigan. She featured one of the looks on her Friday favorites post a couple weeks ago and the other on her Instagram stories. While I do not have the exact items, I have very similar ones in my closet (I did just buy my grey Daily Ritual grey jeans recently after wanting a pair for more than a year) so I was happy to show that you do not have to  copy something exactly but you can shop your closet to recreate a look.

The Fall Look

After putting my outfit together, I realized that apart from the booties, my outfit basically came from Amazon. I featured the color block cardigan last year in a post about our local southwestern cowboy festival.

I think I will be wearing these Daily Ritual jeans a lot this fall and winter. They are a bargain at $22 and fit true to size (I am wearing size 6 short). Tank is also Amazon and comes in a two pack, but mine are old and I could not find an exact match.

The point of this exercise or this type of posts for me is to show that you do not have to be an exact copy of another person. You may buy an exact piece of clothing as another but do that if you truly love that item and if it fills a hole in your closet. For example, I bought the cardigan last year after seeing it on a blogger but bought it because I did not have any light weight cardigans and thought that it would have a useful place in my closet. The jeans? I have a total of 5 pairs of jeans right now: 2 blue pairs (one of which is 5+ years), a black pair and a burgundy pair (which will probably bite the dust this fall/winter season but won’t replace for another year) and this grey pair. I pretty much wear jeans every day when it is cold so they all get their cost per wear down.

Late Summer Look

Andrea shared a now and then look so I once again hit my closet to see what I could find.

I pulled out my pair of denim shors, my leopard sandals and voila!

It is still too warm here for cardigans even with shorts but we are getting there! We typically wake up to a perfect 70 which is great for my morning walk or run. Again I am so grateful for having found great neighbors to exercise with. I can tell the difference between these pics and last year’s pictures in the same cardigan. I can tell a difference in the way I have energy on the days I run even if I still do not get the greatest sleep with a toddler. And I have never been this consistent and regular with walking/running. I think I am going on 3 months now. I did lose a few pounds but mostly my “love handles and muffin top” have shrunk. If we can do it in the summer, we can do it in the winter too!

By the way, my children had their first two days in school last week (as a reminder we are on a hybrid schedule) and they all loved it (even my teen). Grateful for this option! It sure was nice for me to have only 1 child at home two days in a row! I feel like I got so much more accomplish as I was not policing children, making for children or cleaning up children messes. I am hoping we can continue on this schedule!

That’s it for now! I need to get my kids out of their respective rooms and outdoors! It’s to much of a pleasant day to stay inside! And looks like I still need to work on my imitating a pose!

A bientôt!

I do like you in the grey jeans and grey bootees, they’re my kind of boots! I have grey jeans and am wearing them today with a black tee.

Your late summer temperatures are similar to the UK. We’ve got highs of 20C (68F) right now but there’s always a cool breeze so you do need a cardigan or light jacket when you go out.

I shall look for Living on Cloud Nine on Insta – have a great week 🙂

Thanks, Jodie! I need to get really good at shopping my closet if I want to quit shopping for a while! One day at a time!

I didn’t wear it much last year (I really don’t wear cardigan much) but I am going to try to be creative with it!

I know I will wear them a lot. I do need to update my black jeans too but since I told myself I won’t shop anymore, going to wait a few months. Might be fun to add them in winter when I get tired of the blue jeans and grey!

I’m partial to your cardigan colors! What a great recreation. I too often buy a lot of what Andrea shows on her blog… especially from amazon.

Yes! I told her I am going to have to watch myself: I want to pretty much eliminate any clothes shopping Sept-Dec. Not sure if I can do it but I really have so much new and newish to wear, I should!

You sweetheart you!!! Just adore what you did here and like I said, the blue is so so good! You look great in both stylings and I am honored. Your package will be on it’s way tomorrow!! YAY!!! xo

Thanks, Andrea! I was looking at my closet and the stuff you inspired me to buy and had to laugh: I really am going to have to use every ounce of my self control not to buy anything cute that you wear this fall! I am thinking of doing a fun birthday post styling one of the things I got from you and another with the necklace I bought from Michele at Mybijoulife: birthday presents to myself lol!

These types of posts are so fun! You definitely nailed the outfit recreations. I think I like the your blue version of the cardigan better anyway! And those leopard sandals are SO cute.

    Miles of smiles,

These are such great outfits and you recreated them well! I love your grey jeans as well, I got a pair a couple years back and they are nearly at 30 wears, you’ll find they are such a staple! 🙂

Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you had a great weekend! 🙂

Excellent post, Mireille! I love your semi-style steal, and your thought processes behind it.

Yay on your exercise program! It *seems* as if my food sensitivities may underlie some of my fibromyalgia symptoms. Since eliminating the problem foods, my symptoms have decreased. Fingers crossed! I haven’t been exercising because exercise triggered the fibromyalgia symptoms. When it is no longer 110 here, I’m thinking of seeing if I can do a walk regularly.

Also so glad the new school schedule is working so well for all of you!
