Inspired by Last Seen Wearing: Shopping my closet
Any time I see someone wearing something cute there is that pull of “oh that is so cute, maybe I should get it”. There is also that smart voice in my head saying that I do not need anything else. I shopped well this year and am ready for fall and winter! As we enter fall and approach the end of the year, that means several things for us as far as where money will be spent: a couple of vacations, birthdays, anniversary and also Christmas. Do I need anything in my closet at this point? NO! So my goal is to find inspiration from others and also from myself (thanks for the diary of outfits, Instagram) and shop my closet for the rest of the year. I am trying to make myself accountable by telling you all about my goal so that I will stick to it!
On to today’s look I recreated! Every so often, I will screenshot the picture of an outfit that I know I can copy with things that are hanging in my closet! I actually wore this same jean skirt a month or 2 ago recreating an outfit from Jess at Elegantly Dressed and Stylish. This time, I saw an outfit on Last Seen Wearing stories and decided to screenshot it so I would remember it. I either make a list of outfit ideas I see (and try to write down the source) or I take a screen shot of it so that I can give credit to the person I am inspired by.
Having basics like these (a denim skirt, a white top, a belt) is one’s closet is a door to many outfits possibilities: that white shirt or tee can be paired with virtually anything and so can a denim skirt. I have just recently starting wearing belts more often and really like how they can help define the waist. This particular skirt was thrifty several years ago (maybe 6 years ago) and the tee is a Target tee that was $8.
The belt is from Amazon and I really like the summery touch it gives to this outfit. I have several straw totes to chose from so I ended up selecting this one as it was structured and had handles. I often wear my circle straw bag too in the summer. I like that it has a drawstring closure so that if it falls sideways, things stay in place and don’t fall out. A straw tote give any outfit a summery touch and my favorites are my two I picked up in Europe last summer.
Sandals like these never go out of style. These Madewell sandals may not be trendy but they are a classic and if they are of good quality, they will last quite a few years and will be worn every summer. These are now 2 years old I think and I have them in black too. They are out of stock but any similar straped sandals can work with this outfit. Remember it is all about being inspired to use what you have in your closet to recreate a look.
A bientĂ´t!

Lol! Usually he also takes pictures of me turning around trying to pick up something so those are even worse pics. The rattan/straw belt and bag were nice contrast and texture.

This is one of my favorite closet staple looks. I love a white vneck t-shirt with denim and that skirt is so cute! Loving how you added the clutch to this look. Perfection!

Such a cute outfit Mireille! Love how it turned out, and I love your plan to shop your closet the rest of the year. I like to think that the whole premise of my blog is shopping one’s closet (though maybe that’s not so clear?) since I rarely share the *exact* item for purchase (since everything I own is so old). In my mind, I share a few similar shoppable pieces at the end of each post just in case somebody can’t already re-create an outfit with what’s in their closet. But I do think I need to do some re-branding to make this super clear! Anyway, really loved this post.

You are so smart to shop your closet these days! I was really good the first four months of COVID-19 between March and June, but then in July the Nordstrom Anniversary sale got me with cute fall clothes and booties. I should be done shopping for the year now, though, but we’ll see. =D
I hope you are having a great week!

You did a great job recreating this outfit, it looks lovely on you! I find myself getting a lot of inspiration from searching through the last ways I wore thing son my blog, giving me new combination ideas to try with pieces I already own 🙂 I love getting ideas and inspiration from other bloggers too though! It gets easier now with spring and autumn being similar – harder when it’s summer for me as it’s winter in the US, haha!
Hope you had a great weekend 🙂 Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup!

Lol! Yes, the opposite season makes it difficult. I do like to look at my ootd: what have I tried and can try with what I have.

It is funny because I really haven’t worn it much except to copy looks and wearing it those for the day.
