Create 28 Challenge Outfits (Week 1 and 2)
This February, I decided to join in with Carrie from A Stylish Fit with her create 28 winter challenge. The challenge has a daily prompt and encourages you to take another look at your closet to create new combinations. I really appreciate that the prompts are simple and broad! It was easy for me to come up with outfits and I think they were all new combinations. I cheated a little and went shopping on the 2nd of the month at Goodwill and scored 9 tops for $40. So I am shopping my closet with the addition fo my thrift finds. Here are some of my favorites from the first two weeks. As you can tell by my outfits, the weather in Georgia has been all over the place. I do sometimes take pictures and pretend I don’t need a jacket so you don’t see just a picture of my parka but we have had some weather in the 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70s the past two weeks.
Neutrals
I struggle with this poncho but this is another winning combo! For some reason I do not like the neckline of the poncho which is why I added the scarf. And this golden hour picture was taken at 8 AM.
Plaid
My mom gave me this scarf that she made from her scarf: she cut her rectangular scarf in two and frayed the edges. A fun little pattern mixing with the stripes and snakeskin booties. I pretty much have found I can wear these with anything,
Florals for Winter
I had this Target mustard yellow top in a size large (bought years ago because I couldn’t find it in my size) and I was so glad to see it in size small at Goodwill. I paired it with this cocoon cardigan I thrifted years ago too. Tried to add a little edge into the mix with the black wrap bracelet and boots.
3 colors
I actually had two outfits for the 3 color prompt. Fun color combinations that include pink:
A summer dress paired with a sweater and boots for a cold day. Pink, grey and cobalt blue was a pretty combination!
A similar combination but with white instead of grey: you cannot tell from the pictures but this cute little cardigan has a fringe on the hem. This was another winner from my Goodwill trip. I really like that the sleeves are not full length and the colors are fun.
Mixing patterns
It actually got too warm for the scarf that afternoon so bare ankles was a good choice of shoes! This is one of my favorite types of combos for days that feel like spring.: joggers, sneakers and a fun sweatshirt or tee. This sweatshirt was another of my scores at the thrift store: a Caslon sweatshirt!
Joggers
I am following the same outfit formula as the picture above, joggers, sneakers and a sweatshirt (thrift find #4) for a busy day. I try to choose earrings to match or contrast with my outfit. My day to day life is pretty routine: get kids to school. do blog work, do a couple chores, prep some food and some days run errands. I have found that getting dressed everyday in something I enjoy wearing puts me in a good mood, helps me be creative and really is fun!
Leopard
I can’t believe I hadn’t worn my leopard skirt since the fall! But this day’s prompt inspired me to pull it out. A vest for a little warmth and my combat boots that you cannot see completed my outfit. I need to start pulling out my skirts out on warmer days!

Cute outfits; I really like your neutrals one. I have several ponchos but rarely get to wear them in winter as it makes it so hard to wear a coat; and I can not go out of the house without a winter coat this time of year.

Thanks, Joanne! The poncho is definitely my hardest to wear but at least I got it on sale and with a gift card if I remember correctly.

What an interesting challenge – love that last skirt. Leopard is always so stylish. Also love that yellow top with the black accessories – the colour combo really suits you. Have a great week 🙂

Thanks, Penny! We have 2 days off, Monday and Tuesday so we are going to take the nephew with us to the aquarium and then just relax at home. Looking forward to a short school week! Enjoy your week too!

Have I ever seen that gorgeous leopard print skirt? I must have remembered because I love it! You should wear that one more often Mireille!
mimifce
I really should! I have worn it a handful of times last year and shared it probably on one or two outfit recaps posts. I had forgotten how pretty it is!
Ellie
Great mix of outfits! My favorites are the first two!
Great idea to cut the scarf in half! I need to do this with my very thick and bulky Vince Camuto scarf I bought last year. It’s so hard to wear it the way it is right now but I love the colors of it!

One of my favorites too! The challenge has also help me donate a couple things to my mom that I haven’t reach for this winter. They still look really nice but I don’t wear them.
Anna Marcus
You really made your wardrobe work to its full capacity. So many nice looking outfits. You look gorgeous in this grey hat

Thank you! I have enjoyed wearing hats this winter, I often forget but when I do I am reminded how much I like how they look plus they hide bad hair days!

I enjoyed all your outfits but the long leopard skirt is quite a stunner. Taking on a challenge does make you really look at our clothing differently and mix in new ways.

Yes, it is really helpful: it also has helped me get rid of a couple more items that I keep hanging on to but don’t wear. Hope my mom enjoys them!

Shelbee on the Edge
Mireille, you got some really great things on your recent thrift shopping adventure! I love the sweatshirts and the tops you found. What a fun style challenge, too. I might need to join the next one because I have been so uninspired for getting dressed lately. I really like the poncho sweater, your leopard maxi skirt, and the camo pants combo!

It’s been a really easy challenge so that was nice. It also helped me see what I reach for , what works and doesn’t.

These are such great outfits! I love the first and last ones! 🙂 It’s nice you’ve found a challenge that works for you too! I’m so behind with sharing pics that I often don’t have enough time to plan for challenges, and I have my own 30 wears challenge that’s always on my mind trying to wear things close to the 30 wears mark so I can put together a post with them. I do miss the inspiration from different challenges now and then though!
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope that you are having a good weekend, it’s a hot day here today 🙂

It’s funny because now that the weather is probably going to start warming up, there are a few outfits I do want to wear before I can’t so not sure how much of the last week I will follow. We are going to go on our 2nd hike of the weekend soon but I am sitting outside in the sun on my porch working on a few blog posts. Looking forward to spring now!
Jessica A Jannenga
