Create 28 Challenge Outfits (Week 1 and 2)

This February, I decided to join in with Carrie from A Stylish Fit with her create 28 winter challenge. The challenge has a daily prompt and encourages you to take another look at your closet to create new combinations. I really appreciate that the prompts are simple and broad! It was easy for me to come up with outfits and I think they were all new combinations. I cheated a little and went shopping on the 2nd of the month at Goodwill and scored 9 tops for $40. So I am shopping my closet with the addition fo my thrift finds. Here are some of my favorites from the first two weeks. As you can tell by my outfits, the weather in Georgia has been all over the place. I do sometimes take pictures and pretend I don’t need a jacket so you don’t see just a picture of my parka but we have had some weather in the 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70s the past two weeks.

Neutrals

I struggle with this poncho but this is another winning combo! For some reason I do not like the neckline of the poncho which is why I added the scarf. And this golden hour picture was taken at 8 AM.

Plaid

My mom gave me this scarf that she made from her scarf: she cut her rectangular scarf in two and frayed the edges.  A fun little pattern mixing with the stripes and snakeskin booties. I pretty much have found I can wear these with anything,

Florals for Winter

I had this Target mustard yellow top in a size large (bought years ago because I couldn’t find it in my size) and I was so glad to see it in size small at Goodwill. I paired it with this cocoon cardigan I thrifted years ago too. Tried to add a little edge into the mix with the black wrap bracelet and boots.

3 colors

I actually had two outfits for the 3 color prompt. Fun color combinations that include pink:

A summer dress paired with a sweater and boots for a cold day. Pink, grey and cobalt blue was a pretty combination!

A similar combination but with white instead of grey: you cannot tell from the pictures but this cute little cardigan has a fringe on the hem. This was another winner from my Goodwill trip. I really like that the sleeves are not full length and the colors are fun.

Mixing patterns

It actually got too warm for the scarf that afternoon so bare ankles was a good choice of shoes! This is one of my favorite types of combos for days that feel like spring.: joggers, sneakers and a fun sweatshirt or tee. This sweatshirt was another of my scores at the thrift store: a Caslon sweatshirt!

Joggers

I am following the same outfit formula as the picture above, joggers, sneakers and a sweatshirt (thrift find #4) for a busy day. I try to choose earrings to match or contrast with my outfit. My day to day life is pretty routine: get kids to school. do blog work, do a couple chores, prep some food and some days run errands. I have found that getting dressed everyday in something I enjoy wearing puts me in a good mood, helps me be creative and really is fun!

Leopard

I can’t believe I hadn’t worn my leopard skirt since the fall! But this day’s prompt inspired me to pull it out. A vest for a little warmth and my combat boots that you cannot see completed my outfit. I need to start pulling out my skirts out on warmer days!
